Hair "Halo"

I've noticed a lot (on two different computers) that many avatars that aren't me have a transparent "halo" around their heads, and switching off advanced shaders/sky makes it go away. Either way it bugs me. Any ideas ?

It actually sounds like an invisprim from your description, especially the conflict with advanced shaders, but who on earth wears an invisiprim around their heads?

I've seen that in SL but I always just assumed it was an alpha layer hiding the head and glitching up the environment.

If it were an invisiprim, it would be clickable. That was my first thought. It LOOKS like an invisiprim. It is approximately hair shaped, obviously it's slightly tricky checking everyone else's avatars..
Not sure what causes it, and the only way to get rid of it is to lower my settings

I'm not sure if this is it, but.. wear system hair, apply good amount of volume for better effect then apply transparency to texture.

y'know, I would not be surprised if people were doing that to annoy me. :o
Or maybe they don't know since it doesn't seem to show on the affected avatars own screen.

maybe some unexperienced avatars trying to get beautiful, new coiffure ending trying to get rid of helmet.
unless circumstances tell otherwise

Ok, I just spent an hour or more with Sierra testing everything out, and it it seems to be caused by people wearing (or not wearing) a bald cap that has a transparent texture on it.

The creator of the bald cap can correct this issue by making sure there is an actual texture(ie, not invisible) on the hair ("default" will do). If the creator does not want to see Linden hair on the avatar, they should reduce the hair volume to zero.
