Re: Selling PBR assets
From my initial experiments and reading on the forums, a lot of items will not necessarily need "full" PBR anyway. As it stands, the PBR implementation in SL only really gives us one new map - Metallicity. I.e- metallic reflectivity. "True" PBR has a few more map types but for performance reasons, t...

Re: Useful PBR videos
Sorry for taking forever to respond! I was off on a little vacation and had no time to test. That does seem to have partially addressed what I am seeing. stopped the textures from going grey. That really does need to be put up in lights somewhere, as I think most people would reasonably expect Fires...

Re: Useful PBR videos
Firestorm 7.1.9.74745 They seem to be ok today. I have logged in and out several times and they seem to be behaving as expected. EDIT: Dang, spoke too soon it seems. It took several attempts but..... https://i.ibb.co/r2sdByH/c8cca5a76a0c556a308a47578e0d2248.jpg The diffuse and specular maps are both...

Re: Useful PBR videos
While I have been able to get a GLTF file to load correctly and remain consistent between logins, it does seem that there is an issue with uploading "regular" textures. Sometimes they are refusing to load entirely and just showing as a grey map. This only seems to impact textures uploaded since the ...

Re: Useful PBR videos
That is why I put a (?) behind "fully working" ;) So far the lighting modes we identified as broken in the Firestorm thread appear to be working, reflection probes can be created, GLTF files seem to upload correctly. I am sure there will be a lot of devil in the detail currently, but it seems to be ...

Re: Kitely website needs a makeover
Ah ok. I seem remember it being discussed at the time but it is a very long time ago :) My reason for mentioning that was simply that due to the new lighting model its really best to get the pics of the avatar and background together if at all possible. So really the issue is not the banner itself, ...

Useful PBR videos
With the new update to 0.9.2.2, we now have the first fully working(?) iteration of PBR available for us to play with. There is a lot to take in for both creators and regular users, lighting and texturing can be quite a technical subject. But it is also a huge opportunity for making stunning new con...

Re: Kitely website needs a makeover
I pretty much second everything Brayla said. I think the website itself is actually still looking pretty good for its age, but the landing page has needed a refresh for a looooooong time. Ideally, the banner should change fairly regularly. At least every 6 months. It just shows people considering us...

Re: Firestorm version 7.1.9.74745
I have been getting to grips with PBR in Second Life today and.....oh boy. Firstly, I would really recommend everyone watch this video, regardless of if you are a content creator or not: BJ1eRTlWDYk It gives a good overview of what these changes imply. I cannot say for certain yet if the way PBR is ...

Re: Firestorm version 7.1.9.74745
Unfortunately, as with many things in the 3D world, terms can be a bit "fluffy", adding to the confusion for all users. All of the points Tess makes are indeed correct, we are not getting "true" PBR, but it is even more long-winded and technical to explain that in the format of a meeting where every...
