One of their standard methods for introducing realistic physics where you couldn't walk through a huge oak tree was simply to set it phantom and then conceal a standard cylinder within the trunk. I build all of my own building components, including doors and windows. On Second Life I used Zimberlab's Windoor. It is, without a doubt, the best product I have every purchased in a virtual world. It is menu driven. It rotates, slides, and pivots on edge, middle, or central on the x,y, or z axis....

I had run into this problem when putting light-emitted objects (e.g. lamps) for sale. Any lighting objects you put for sale have to be "off" by default. No glow and no light emitting. SL and Opensim use temporary textures when rendering lighting.

You can also have the door become phantom when it opens. I made this set about a month ago. There is a notecard version and a text channel version. It doesn't do photos, though.
