Re: Physics for Noobs

To make my steps work in Opensim, I upload them with a ramp for a physics model. Otherwise, not only is there a chance they don't work at all, but they make an annoying thumping when you walk up and down them.

Re: Fonts in Kitely and Opensim for dynamic textures

I know this is a bit of a necro, but have you considered adding some Google fonts? https://fonts.google.com/ Or Font Squirrel? https://www.fontsquirrel.com/ IMO, Font Squirrel has some fantastic fonts. In font Squirrel, click the sample and it has the license in a tab. If you want, I can look for so...

Re: Product won't list due to "missing texture"

This happened a lot to me at first. My solution was (and is) to create my own blank and transparent textures to apply to models. (When I did, I also made the textures smaller. Less texture lag!) I turned the entire model white using my new uploaded "blank" texture and then I uploaded all the texture...

Re: Trouble with physics on BallerNation grid

Baller Nation is on 0.9x so that grid will behave very differently from Kitely. That being said, If you make the physics volume too complicated, Kitely will make it phantom. I have found that my physics models in Opensim need to envelop the high-rez model. In SL I could use a plane for walls, but in...

Feature Request: Coupon codes or Giveaway Feature

Just as the header implies, I would LOVE to see some type of coupon system where I could give the customer a code and they would either get a discount (percentage or amount) or an item for free. This would be great for both events and customer service. In Lieu of this, I would like a way to deliver ...

Re: Tips for better world building

Thank you for the excellent post - the one I flunk on is world size! I would like to add to this: physics models. For most home objects (chairs, dishes, lamps, bottles, etc) a CUBE is all the physics you need. (I used to use planes in SL, but for some reason, cubes work better in Opensim). having si...

Re: New Welcome Center Beta Feedback Thread

Overall, I love the look of the welcome center. It looks fantastic. It loads fast. These are GREAT first impressions. No more sculpties!!! The Roman theme is beautiful and classic. Below are my critiques. The whole area needs more Kitely branding, however. The only Kitely branding is on various smal...

Re: KWC: Welcome/Starter Pack discussion

My humble suggestion is to add these four Google+ groups to whatever notecard will have useful links. If a person is coming from SL, they are likely going to try to use Facebook to try to find Openim/Kitely events and stuff, but Opensimmers are generally not on facebook as much (because using your A...

Re: How to correctly upload mesh

You can use a plain physics cube to upload most decor items and especially wearables. Using a plain cube also cuts down on calculate times and upload errors. For trees, I use a transparent simplified physics mesh and leave the rest as physics_type none. Having good physics models makes the server ha...
