Need testers for a Blender plugin for avatar creation
Owl Eyes is working on a plugin that replicates the OpenSim/SL avatar into Blender - the mesh, system vertex weighting (much different than mesh attachment weighting), LODs, UV mapping, and the complete SL armature with the custom settings for the volume bones. To come: the mesh and skeleton morphs,...

Re: Kitely Starter Avatars world
Derendering a few random avatars will always improve the frame rate of course but I think it's still important to know that the avatars the "jellydoll" function targets are effectively chosen at random and not in any way based on their actual render cost. Yup, LL suks on this, and Beq is certainly ...

Re: Kitely Starter Avatars world
That said, the easiest way I can increase my frame rate is to go into Preferences/Graphics and set Complexity to around 100K.
It's a highly flawed number, yes, but we don't have a better one. If someone comes up with a better one, please please write it and hand it to Beq. Please.

help on vertex weighting
An offshoot of the ongoing project working on the system avatar is this worksheet, that I'm finding useful for vertex weighting. A worksheet that assembles the Appearance shape slider data from the viewer Character folder to a set of spreadsheets. It's called MeshAttachmentWeightingReference.ods and...

Re: New opensim wiki
Yay documentation! Have you checked out Discord/NGC? They are doing good things. There's a GitHub that goes with - https://github.com/OpenSim-NGC/OpenSim-Sasquatch

Re: Tool for working with the system avatar
ya that's been around for a while, and it's OK. Students come in with questions about it - the Avastar ads scattered through the page confuse the information on how the system and mesh viewer rigs actually work. And don't mention that the Avastar rig is quite different than the viewer rigs. Avastar ...

Re: Tool for working with the system avatar
I thought I'd do a few updates and be done with this. But it turns out that I really have learned more since I was working on RuthandRoth a few years ago, and I need to continue rewriting the documentation and adding tools, without cluttering up the forums. If you want notifications when I update, t...

Re: Tool for working with the system avatar
Yes. You can see my work in the spreadsheet, how I took the xml data and converted it to Blender values. I used the llm data - the mesh morphs - to make shape keys in Blender, and to calculate vertex weights. The values in avatar_skeleton.xml to make system avatar armature, and the mesh attachments ...

Re: Tool for working with the system avatar
I need to add that, although I've been successful in replicating the mesh morphs (viewer/Character/*.llm) to Blender, I am close to nowhere on the xml attribute param_skeleton, which lives in viewer/Character/avatar_lad.xml. I was able to replicate the female-to-male toggle with a convoluted set of ...
