Re: Are listeners actually expensive, or is this a myth?

Took me a while to answer this. I been busy lately. :D Long ago in a grid far, far away, listeners were lag fiends. They were poorly constructed and using even a dozen or two listeners could create notable "lag". Then someone at that far land wised up and fixed that problem, and it did cease to exis...

Re: How Can I Make a Nice Avatar and Meet People?

DWAGONS are available on Kitey Market. After you've found a Dwagon avatar, there just no need for anything else. "If you can be a Dwagon, be a Dwagon." Eberone knows that. Howeber, being a Dwagon does take a certain mindset and skillz, so most people go for Biggies instead. Is unfortunate, but what ...

Re: Objects disappear as zoom closer.

Philip Rosedale actually once said that the way linksets are done was the biggest mistake when they created SL. When I moved to Inworldz and then to Opensim Hypergrid... link limits were wonderfully removed. I was able to create a Firefly spaceship that was 105m long and 1,000 prims all linked as o...

Re: Vehicles vanishing on sim crossing

Kayaker gave me 3 lines of code that, when applied to my boat (whether prim or mesh), overrode the die-on-sim-crossing problem and now the boat works perfectly. Are you allowed to share the code with us? I'm sorry it took me so long to get back to you on this. I've been building a 2 1/2 region town...

Re: How to Build a Door

I own serveral door scripts, most of which I've written myself. Which to use really depends on what kind of door you want. It has always bugged me that LL in their infinite wisdom didn't include a simple llDoor() function in LsL. All the things one might want to do on a virtual world, and it never o...

Re: Vehicles vanishing on sim crossing

It occurred to me to contact Kayaker about the same time Selby made the suggestion to do so... and bless his little brilliant mind, Kayaker had the answer. Ya'll gonna love this. It would seem some time back, in order to "solve" a griefer problem, Linden Lab wrote into the code something that would ...

Ohhh... good point! I never thought of that need, but yeah, that script would come in real handy if it had to be internal detection. Thanks. :D
