Re: Kitely Mentors Group Meeting, 20 Feb, 2013: summary
Museums would be Educational; art galleries might be Commercial or Educational. I tend to see Religious as based on organisations (hence the need for buildings), and Spiritual as more an individual response. But that might be a personal viewpoint. I agree that Utility might also be useful for Privat...

Re: Kitely Mentors Group Meeting, 20 Feb, 2013: summary
Marstol is correct: I was thinking of this in terms of a category/subcategory structure. Public: Commercial (shops, malls, offices, ...) Educational (schools, universities, science labs, ...) Entertainment (cinemas, clubs, cafés, theatres, amphitheatres, ...) Industrial (factories, warehouses, ...) ...

Re: Kitely Mentors Group Meeting, 20 Feb, 2013: summary
Thanks for the summary, Marstol. They are a lot of work, but are appreciated. One thought I had with regard to Structures: Would it make sense to have a simple top-level category split of Private/Public? Architectural style might be a useful attribute. That would help those building a themed region,...

Re: CONTEST: Most Interesting World, Top Award 4000KCs
... This is fundamentally a GOOD IDEA though. :-) Wholeheartedly agree :) just the wrong implementer. No, not the wrong implementer. Maybe try another occasion, when people are less busy. It would take quite a bit of time to do justice to interesting builds, which makes me hesitate at the moment.

Re: Wanted: Does anybody have mega-prims?
I have created and imported via OARs from outside builds some very large megaprims (e.g. 1024x1024x0.5). However, if resized in Firestorm, they twang back to 64 x 64. To be able to create them in the first place you need to tweak a setting in OpenSim.ini. I could try to make the right size of megapr...

Re: Convert .raw terrain files to mesh for sky builds
I tried it out on a corner of a sim, and it does seem to work in terms of generating a rough shape. I didn't check the terrain texturing aspect. Beyond that, I'm afraid, I got distracted and took it no further. I suspect that to use it properly will require quite a bit of systematic setting u...

Re: osTeleport Agent
Also, can anyone explain to me how to figure out the vector for "vector direction = <0,0,0>; " - how do I figure out how to make the avatar face a particular direction? I'll see if I can find out what vector to use for different compass directions. It'll probably involve inworld experimentation rat...

Re: osTeleport Agent
From what I've heard there's a bug in the underlying OpenSim code that requires you to avoid facing true north on arrival. So changing vector direction = <0,0,0>; //Direction you will face when arriving to vector direction = <1,1,1>; //Direction you will face when arriving could well do the trick, a...

Re: database problems?
I've been regularly getting a similar message: Failed to find clothing named New Socks in the database. This is with Firestorm v4.3.1.31155 for the Mac. Experimenting (in case it helps): I've just deleted any "New Socks" outfit links and then the actual New Socks, and after that emptied Inventory Tr...
