Is there now an OpenSim bug affecting NPC scripts

I am working on a blog article about the Non-Player Character script that Nara Malone offers as a gift on her island, Nara's Nook.
I mentioned it in another article and got this advice:

There is an Open Sim bug involving Nara's NPC script. I don't think it has been fixed yet. It will lock up your sim and stop all scripts and script updates. I would wait to distribute the NPC scripts until that is fixed.
New Media Arts has been using this script a lot for several months, with no incidents. Can anyone advise me about the current status of this problem?
