Re: opensim being cyber attacked
There are some fixes that we're working on that will hopefully eliminate at least some of the problems that we're experiencing now. We hope to deploy them in the next few hours.

It might have something to do with Amazon. Check with them

Re: opensim being cyber attacked
The issues we're investigating don't seem to be related to an external attack. They may have to do with a hot patch Oren rolled out earlier today to fix one of the OpenSim 0.9.2.2 issues that we've encountered. Oren is working on compiling a new version now that should address this bug.

I guess it could be a coincidence. Just thought you should know. Wolf seems to believe he was hit with an attack.

Update: We fixed the error on our end. You should now be able to enter the worlds that were causing issues earlier today. We apologize for the interruption of service to those that experienced it. When you roll out system updates on almost a daily basis, some issues can occur.

Re: opensim being cyber attacked
Hi, I know this topic title turned out not to be the cause of the problem, but it's happening again. I got booted out of Cowboy Country and crashed early yesterday evening. I tried again in the wee hours of the morning (about 2:30 a.m. US Eastern, so 11:30 grid time?) and tried getting to either or both Cowboy Country and Coopersville. Eventually I made it into Cowboy Country, but I've been trying for several more hours to get into Coopersville and keep getting this error message that I was also getting for Cowboy Country:
"[03:46 AM] Teleport failed.
The world "Coopersville" is now being started. Once the world is ready you will be teleported to it automatically.
[03:47 AM] Teleport failed.
Communications failure"
A message popped up in the middle of the screen with an "OK" button (I use Singularity), which told me to relog and try again. I did so, and got the same result: I used my LM to TP, but after the usual message in the lower right corner saying it was starting up the world (Coopersville), then gave me the same messages described above.

Re: opensim being cyber attacked
Hi Crash,
There is a problem that started when we upgraded to OpenSim 0.9.2.2 that we're trying to track down that causes these TP connection errors. The challenge is that this problem is intermittent and we need to catch it when it is happening in order to be able to view the server's internal state before we restart it to fix the issue. What world were you in when you got the TP error? Were you inside the transfer station or were you waiting in another world for your destination world to start?
We've found it takes close to 2 days for the world you're teleporting from to be active before this issue arises. Which is why we've been preemptively restarting the transfer station, the Kitely Welcome Center and the Dedicated Server worlds once per day. We didn't do that for the welcome center world and the transfer station for the last couple of days in order to be able to catch this issue as it was happening. We've now restarted them so the issue shouldn't happen again.
We're still working on a more permanent solution. Until we do so, if you encounter a connection error that causes a teleport to fail then please let us know immediately and then try entering your destination by either doing so from the Kitely Welcome Center or (if you get the connection error from there) then by pressing the Enter World button on the destination world's world page then logging in directly into it via the viewer.
