Default Permissions

Post by Natalie Oe »

Hi :)

Just wondering whether we can get a fix for the default permission setting in Kitely. I've viewed the support jira referenced in this thread viewtopic.php?t=656 and it's been marked as resolved since 2016. It is currently working in other OS grids I am on, it only fails when uploading in Kitely.

Because I mostly upload textures it is becoming quite a nuisance to have to set permissions of every texture separately, even though I've been in and set default next owner permissions.

Thanks.
Nat

Hi Natalie,

We'll investigate the issue to see what we can do to fix it on Kitely.

Hi Nathalie,

I noticed that when you first upload actually meshes and or textures they never come in with the correct permissions as you've set in the viewer. When you just relax and look at them then. All will be correct. In the beginning I also went through the tedious process of changing the permissions. For mesh object this means also rezzing them, changing inworld, taking in inventory and blablabla.
In fact just reloading is an easier workaround, at least till at some point this is fixed.

Hope this helps and hope that Ilan can confirm that the permissions are validly changed this way.

Cheers,
Zed

Hi Zed,

Thank you for your suggestions unfortunately it isn’t a work around for me as the textures I’m uploading and then transferred to a box for selling and so I have to set the permissions before hand :)

Hi Nathalie,

I have the same problem with AO's UV's etc. Those also need to be FP and never had a problem when I relogged after uploading and before "boxing things up". Works perfectly fine really.

Hey again Zed,

I will try your relog method and see if it is a viable work around while we wait for a fix. Thanks

Hi everyone,

We've updated Kitely today with a fix to this problem:

1. The default permissions that you select in the viewer are now applied to assets that you upload (e.g., textures).
2. In addition, the default Object permissions that you selected are now applied whenever you create new prims in-world.

Hope this helps!
Oren
