Can a parcel's group ownership be changed?

Post by Frank SquirrelHerder »

I started building out my sim with parcels owned by a group I own.

Now, I realize I should have set it up instead to be owned by a "development" group, as I want my current group to be reserved for fans to receive notices, but not to rez objects in my sim.

I don't see an obvious way to change parcel group ownership without selling the land to a different avatar, then selling it back to myself.

An easier option would be if I could just rename my groups. Is this possible?

Barring that, I'll just have to change the roles so public ("everyone") group members don't have rezzing privileges.

Hi Frank--

You can change the group ownership of land on the land page in your viewer. Assuming you are using Firestorm, click on "land" at the top left of your viewer. Under the "General" tab, look for "Group." Then, click "set" and choose the group you want to use. Then, click "ok."

I think that'll do teh trick.

Thanks for the response, Freda!

From what I can see, as the land is already set to Group ownership, I don't appear to have a way to change Groups other than to Sell Land. The only option then is to sell it to another avatar, not to another group.

So at least as far as I can see, there's no way to change ownership among groups without selling to a different avatar altogether. hmmm.

Hi Frank,

Please click the name of the group that is currently selected, that should enable you to select a different group.

Thanks for the reply, Ilan,

Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to work (see attached screenshot). And the option to change groups doesn't otherwise seem to exist.

It's okay, I can cope with this. I was just hoping there would be an elegant solution. :)

By the way, the attachment size for these forums seems to be quite small. I'm having to crop and/or compress images before attaching them.

There is a copy of my landpage. On yours, it looks like the "set" button is grayed out. On mine, it is live. Am I seeing that correctly?

Hi Frank,

I've returned the land to your user's ownership so you'll be able to set the land to a new group.
