well, it is a simple matter to add an onmouseover event to the main headers that would open the additional information, or, alternatively, a ? mark icon could be set at the end of the main headers that when moused over or clicked could open additional info, or, well, i am sure there are more "ors" but I havent kept up properly on such things........

but i still use onmouseover html on a couple of simple websites i manage for my sister...i always liked that code

Is there any possibility of having an alternate date for the meeting? Wednesday is the only day of the week that I have a regular activity. Maybe alternate one on Wed then the following on some other day?

I think under each point there should be a “find out more….”link which takes you to a more serious technical overview.

Both need to be available. A simple summary for the casual user and a real technical overview for the “power user”. Trying to fit both on the first page in any format is a bad idea.

While Ilan has said that this should not happen, I agree with those like Handy, Ozwell and Deuce (I think) who have argued for links to give expanded, focused information from the first page.

Each page linked to could have a copy of the "Create new account" button, so people could still make an account wherever they are on the website.

Having access to the expanded information from the first page could actually help people find out the information they need -- they find the summary of what they need on the first page (which is always accessible by clicking the "Kitely" logo), then navigate directly to the page with extra information.

At the moment it is difficult to remember exactly where to look for specific information. There are links to "Learn more" (services -- this is key info on accounts), and in tiny print, to documentation, the FAQ, the forum -- not at all user-friendly, and out of character with other Kitely services.

Oh sorry, I was unaware that this had been discussed. I admit to just skimming the thread at work  That method is pretty standard practice, isn't it? I assume this has something to do with lowering conversion rates? It only need be two pages. The front page and an overview page bookmarked by the links, with easy to find "back" links.

If there is no option to link to another area then I really don't see what can be done. You cant fit all the relevant information into a small space like that. Plus its easy to overwhelm people.

A big problem here is the different knowledge levels within the community and also new users who may know nothing. Opensim is a huge topic in and of itself, never-mind the ways that Kitely differs from it. Problem is if you are giving a short overview on the front page, but no easy link to the full lowdown its easy for people to see that as slightly deceptive. Cramming it all onto the front page will not work imho.

When it's laid out like this, it doesn't seem so long after all. I bet with some careful selection of fonts (in part to reduce the size of the detail text compared to the headings text) and colours, this wouldn't be too overwhelming.
