Dot Matrix: Seanchai are having events too this week
Serene Jewell: Any other announcements whle Ilan rounds up the tardy people?
Dot Matrix: Shandon has been a bit busy...
Moonrise Azalee: back

Moonrise Azalee: thankee.
Dot Matrix: WB

Dot Matrix: There's history month coming up in August too
Freda Frostbite: Oh yeah, there is
Dot Matrix: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=3358
Dot Matrix: (it's a long thread...)
Moonrise Azalee:
Ilan Tochner: Hi maya
Dot Matrix: Hi Maya!
maya eight_2: Hello all!
Freda Frostbite: We have a bunch of sims participating and a lot of arts and literary evevnts on the schedule, but there is plenty of room and time for me. IM me if yoiu are interested in doing otr hosting a History Month event.
Freda Frostbite: for more
Keif Denimore: Hi Maya
Freda Frostbite: Lord, I need sleep
Freda Frostbite: LOL
Serene Jewell: Me too.
Dot Matrix: Too many events... bad for sleep
maya eight_2: Please do remove and delete the 2
maya eight_2: That would be great!
Freda Frostbite: No-- nothing to do with events --mass shooting near us over night-- hard to sleep once we heard what was happening.
Kayaker Magic: BRB, need to relog
Graham Mills_2: terrible businees
Serene Jewell: so very sad
Caribia Zsun: =/
Moonrise Azalee:
Dot Matrix: Oh no! Is that the Orlando one?
maya eight_2: Yes the shooting was terrible!
Freda Frostbite: yes
Nathan Adored: there obviously must have already been another Maya Eight
Dot Matrix: Horrible
maya eight_2: Here in California we are dealing with election fraud
AngelCat Wingtips: world is going bad
Freda Frostbite: several states are
maya eight_2: The other Mayaeight was me
Nathan Adored: oh, I'm sure there's election fraud everywhere, to some extent or another
maya eight_2: I had begun an account - then started up with another later
JayR.Cela @hg.osgrid.org: *waves* hi there everyone / dont mind me / i just here for the fun of it / thank you / END
Ilan Tochner: Hi JayR
JayR.Cela @hg.osgrid.org: :_)
Ilan Tochner: please take a sit
Graham Mills_2: welcome jayr
Nathan Adored: So, the bad news about Hilary CLinton running against Donald Trump is.... ONE of them is gonna get elected. Oo
Dot Matrix: Hi JayR
Ilan Tochner: Hi Kayaker
Don Smith: Election Fraud......thats PERPOSTEROUS!, Everyone knows politicians are %100 honest!!! < insert laughter here >
maya eight_2: LOL Nathan!
Keif Denimore: Hi JayR
JayR.Cela @hg.osgrid.org: thanks
JayR.Cela @hg.osgrid.org: i will
Ozwell Wayfarer: Is that confirmed now? Hillary vs Trump? I might move to the moon. :/
Kayaker Magic: Vote for the lesser of two evils....
maya eight_2: I teach and we aere following along and doing a mock election! LOL Well.....the students are learning
Selby Evans: In Texas we don't have to deal with election fraud -- We just ignore it.
Graham Mills_2: hi brian
Ilan Tochner: Okay, let's settle down
I have a few things I wish to discuss with you today
Serene Jewell: I come to virtual worlds to escape politics
Ilan Tochner: Hi Brian
Moonrise Azalee:
Nathan Adored: "Oh, bother," said Winnie the Pooh as Moonbase Alpha depressurised.
Moonrise Azalee: lol, me too
Freda Frostbite: It is not confirmed yet. 2 1/2 million votes not counted in ONE state alone.
Brian Roberts: Hi llan
Moonrise Azalee: And I'm Canadian so much of that is over my head - tho I empathize.
Graham Mills_2: crikey
Moonrise Azalee: (the politics i mean)
Serene Jewell: So what's new, Ilan?
Brian Roberts: Hi Graham
Ilan Tochner: We're continuing with working on fixing various backend issues and are moving on to adding Events
Nathan Adored: Well, Canada has its share of political troubles, too.
Dot Matrix: Oooh Events!
Nathan Adored: Heck, every country does. Oo
Ilan Tochner: A few things relating to that including questions:
Dot Matrix: Shh -- focus....
Graham Mills_2: i think the UK may be applying to join Kitely soon
Moonrise Azalee: yes i realize that, lol i meant only the political topics being disucssed atm
Ilan Tochner: 1) This will be added to the Viewer Login page so will be visible to everyone logging in
Ozwell Wayfarer: lol Graham
Graham Mills_2: um, sorry
Moonrise Azalee listens
Caribia Zsun: carefully
maya eight_2: listening
Ilan Tochner: 2) We'll be connecting this to the existing Google calendar that is run by the Sign of the Kite folks
Moonrise Azalee: whoot!
Dot Matrix: Well, Selby etc
JayR.Cela @hg.osgrid.org: @ Ilan / that sounds really good
Serene Jewell: Super
Caribia Zsun: yeehaa
Ilan Tochner: 3) Managment / moderation will be by the community. (i.e. the aforementioned folks). They have proven themselves dedicated to the welfare of the Kitely community and more than up to the task
Moonrise Azalee:
Don Smith: nice
JayR.Cela @hg.osgrid.org: I have a question I just want to toss out there about the VR head sets if I may ?
Brian Roberts: I've noticed when click a link on one of the feature regions on the log in page you get sent to the wrong place
Graham Mills_2: There should be a sim called "The Wrong Place"
Moonrise Azalee: lol
Graham Mills_2: sorry
Dot Matrix: You offering, Graham?
Ilan Tochner: 4) We'll be adding support for a bit of metadata that the moderators will be able to add to the calander events to add support for images, times, world URLs, etc. so our system will be able to display them nicely in the viewer login page and possibly in an additional page on the kitely website
Moonrise Azalee: Very cool!
Don Smith: awesome, whats the ETA on having that available?
Selby Evans whispers: Jay -- don't ask if you can ask -- just ask your question
Ilan Tochner: It marks the last place that you pressed between the viewer and world pages Brian
Graham Mills_2: it would be nice to be able to get info on featured worlds rather than just a login link imo
Graham Mills_2: (on login page)
Ilan Tochner: It's an issue of visibility and compatibility with viewer built in browsers Graham
Ilan Tochner: we have very limited space on the page
Graham Mills_2: k
Ilan Tochner: Let's please try to focus on Events and discuss the other features later, I have a hard time multitasking several conversations at once
Don Smith: maybe a block of "highlighted place of the week" or something, maybe "of the day" , ?
Ilan Tochner: Hi Giz
Graham Mills_2: Hi Giz
Giz Ihnen: Hi everyone. sorry I'm late
Dot Matrix: Hi Giz
Moonrise Azalee:
Hi Giz
Keif Denimore: Hi Giz
Giz Ihnen waves to all
Dot Matrix: Sorry, Ilan... go on -- events...
AngelCat Wingtips: hi Giz
Ilan Tochner: Now to a question regarding the Viewer Login page
Ilan Tochner: As stated it has very little free space left and we need to add Events to it
Ilan Tochner: We have several ways we're considering doing this
Ilan Tochner: First, possible views:
Ilan Tochner: 1) Something like the existing Agenda view from Google Calendar, i.e. the way it is displayed in the post on our forums and in the Sign of the Kite website
Ilan Tochner: 2) Something graphical with a banner and info for each event.
Ilan Tochner: Pros/Cons:
Ilan Tochner: 1) can provide info about more events in the limited space we have but isn't very visually attractive
Ilan Tochner: 2) Can provide graphical banners for the events but they'll be small and we'll only have space to show very few of them at a time
Ilan Tochner: Hi kostas, please take a sit
Dot Matrix: Immediate reaction: Go for 1
Graham Mills_2: immediate reaction -- agree with Dot
Ilan Tochner: a quick raising of hands (1 or 2) which would you prefer (no reason just a number)?
maya eight_2: I like (1)
Moonrise Azalee: 1 seems to be a better idea
Serene Jewell: I think most people logging in would want to know if something is happening now or in the immediate future. Anything after today they can link to.1
Ozwell Wayfarer: yep me too. Number 1
Graham Mills_2: we haz hand raise here?
Serene Jewell: 1
Caribia Zsun: 1
Selby Evans whispers: I favor 1 -- information
Giz Ihnen: 1
Moonrise Azalee: Question - is 1 able to display more events? or more information about events?
Dot Matrix: Both potentially
Selby Evans whispers: More events, I think
Moonrise Azalee: Information being time/date?
Dot Matrix: (thinking about agenda view)
Graham Mills_2: the banners would likely be a hot mess
Ilan Tochner: 1 is able to display more events as it is text, may have place for a bit more info as well, there should be a popup or something similar when clicked
Moonrise Azalee: I think whatever allows more events to be shown would be better. So i would chose 1
Moonrise Azalee: 'choose'
Nathan Adored: yeah, 1 works for me
Talia Sunsong: 1
Ilan Tochner: Anyone wants to play devils advocate for 2?
Dot Matrix: http://signofthekite.com/ -- see top right column for Agenda view of Kitely Events calendar
Don Smith: i will
Don Smith: human nature says, if its more visual appealing, it will attract more people to it
Caribia Zsun: that is true too
Don Smith: if at a glance, you don't know its a list of events to check out, because it just looks like information, only those who already know about it will use it, the rest passing it by
Ilan Tochner: Will people always be willing to create proper banners?
Dot Matrix: Perhaps the thing to do there would be to make sure the world page image is visually attractive
Graham Mills_2: maybe icons instead of banners?
Don Smith: where as visually attractive, will attract many more to "check it out" and see whats going on further
Graham Mills_2: compromise/standardisation
Moonrise Azalee: Many grid long in pages have a simple link for an event on the page and it works well.
Moonrise Azalee: 'log in'
Dot Matrix: Agree with Moonrise.
Dot Matrix: Also, banners mean extra work -- it needs to be simple for those doing the work
Moonrise Azalee: Our log in page is already full of visuals with world thumbnails and marketplace thumbnails etc.
Dot Matrix: Agree!!!!!
Dot Matrix: (it is getting very umm... confusing
)
Serene Jewell: More people could be using the Kitely G+ group for pretty announcements. Maybe link to that.
Moonrise Azalee: I have only one issue with the Calendar being linked - tho right now it is the best idea-
Ilan Tochner: Is the current viewer login page 1) too crowded with images 2) just right 3) doesn't have enough images ?
Nathan Adored: Pancakes! It needs more pancakes!
Moonrise Azalee: if we get a huge amount of people wanting to post events that puts a real strain on those who need to authorze others to do so
Caribia Zsun: lol Nath
Moonrise Azalee: (i think currently its just right)
Selby Evans: Current Login page just right
Nathan Adored: Is there a way to make sections of what's displayed be collapsable and expandable by mouseclick?
Kayaker Magic: Just right IMHO
Ilan Tochner: Serene, the goal is to have the Google + calendar be the system used to manage the events and our Events System will read it to display what we display
Moonrise Azalee: Is there any way to allow events to be done via creation into the viewer search?
Don Smith: is it possible to have a "visually attractive" button/logo, to click on to take me to the information for events, instead of logo's for each event?
Moonrise Azalee: Asking because only kitely members can see those events on kitely log in, and not others visiting
Serene Jewell: I understand, Ilan. Was just offering another option for those who want "pretty" announcments. They could use the Kitely G+ page
Ilan Tochner: We intend to eventually add a page on the Kitely website that will also show this info Moonrise
Moonrise Azalee: Oh yes, right.
Moonrise Azalee:
Selby Evans: People will tend to miss the forum part, because the may have to scroll down, so collapsing w/ expand on click would be good
Graham Mills_2: the login page has a web equivalent already iirc
Ilan Tochner: yes Graham, I meant a page just for events that will show a lot more events at the same time
Moonrise Azalee: Not to knock Metropolis but they have image icons for many things on their log in page and its very busy
Moonrise Azalee: i stay that simple links to the Google Calendar is best, considering our space.
Ilan Tochner: P.S. we'll eventually create similar pages for all the components of the viewer login page
Dot Matrix: Suggestion/question: Would it help to have a plain background rather than an image, so that the individual world and market item images stand out better?
Don Smith: to get it started, i would agree, but i also hope it can be improved upon later
Moonrise Azalee: I like our Kitely image
Moonrise Azalee: it is really beauitiful and kind of signature.
Dot Matrix: Well.... it might need to be changed in the future
Ilan Tochner: We thought about that Dot but the page looked kind of amateurish without a background
Dot Matrix: OK.
Serene Jewell: Sky = place. Would like to see that kept. But the background image could fade to a plain background toward the bottom
Moonrise Azalee: yes.
Ilan Tochner: sky = place ?
Dot Matrix: places have skies, so if there is a sky, there must be a place.
Ozwell Wayfarer: lol
Dot Matrix: No smoke without fire, no sky without place.
Moonrise Azalee: https://www.kitely.com/virtual-world-ne ... -login.jpg
Moonrise Azalee: actually really its not bad
Moonrise Azalee: the images are on a light background
Ozwell Wayfarer: I only just noticed you can scroll. I was totally missing the links for forum, buy credits etc until now.
Serene Jewell: yes - sky, and horizon's are a visual shorthand for a place. Sense of place is an important part of virtual worlds.
Moonrise Azalee: but really i think only links to forums could go without being too much.
maya eight_2: looks good
Moonrise Azalee: It does look clean as it is (and yes my monitor only shows to the market and one line of forum)
Moonrise Azalee: Events could go under Grid Info in a box? or would they go lower down?
Ilan Tochner: Assuming people are (mostly) for 1 then we can start discussing placement
Moonrise Azalee nods
Giz Ihnen: or have the forums be a one line entry that scrolls iteself with a little play/pause/next thingie next to it... save space?
Ilan Tochner: (let's discuss background image later)
Dot Matrix: OK
Serene Jewell: I would put the events in a box to the right of the New Forum posts maybe. So they are two equal length columns.
Don Smith: agreed
Dot Matrix: Agree with Serene
Moonrise Azalee: I do agree, cept i barely see the forum as is
Ilan Tochner: Serene that is exactly option number 1!
Ilan Tochner: :-0
Ilan Tochner:
Serene Jewell:
Then I like that option. lol
Ozwell Wayfarer: me too
Dot Matrix: Other possibility would be to have the worlds and market items in two columns
Ilan Tochner: Downside is that it might push forums to be 2 lines per post or we'll need to crop data per forums pos
Ilan Tochner: post*
Selby Evans: I like option 1
Dot Matrix: so you would have 2x2 + 2x2 images, and the forum posts and events beneath.
Moonrise Azalee: IT is interesting that many grids downplay their forum, yet ours is so non dramatic that we can promote ours
Dot Matrix: Heh, you should have seen some of the drama a few years ago
Moonrise Azalee: aaww darn i missed! haha
Nathan Adored: Practically no one ever pays attention to the forums on Dream Nation.... or posts to it. oO
Moonrise Azalee: so maybe - forum posted in but leave out, last post by/timestamp
Ilan Tochner: Let's please focus on Kitely
Moonrise Azalee: and then can easily fit the two tables of events/forum posts
Ozwell Wayfarer: Still even that drama pales to what is seen on most grids.
Graham Mills_2: i'd get rid of the image of the merchants sandbox, put link someplace else
Selby Evans: I don't think adding more lines down for the forums is a problem -- If you get to the forums, you have already scrolled down.
Nathan Adored: But, then Kitely has a LOT more ppl on it than that other grid
Ilan Tochner: People often look for it Graham, and find themselves in some other sandbox and complain
Graham Mills_2: it's not a good advert
Graham Mills_2: have a "For merchants heading
Giz Ihnen: and only a limited amount of users use it...
Ilan Tochner: The viewer login page serves two types of people:
Moonrise Azalee: So, having forums/events same area two separate tables as per originl suggestion is good. Maybe crop out forum post info.
Ilan Tochner: 1) new users getting started needing to be convinced to stay
Ilan Tochner: 2) Existing users wantign current info
Moonrise Azalee nods
Moonrise Azalee: Events and Forum show an active community
Moonrise Azalee:
maya eight_2: Yes!
Selby Evans: I think 1) is most important-
Ilan Tochner: As some people mentioned, many people don't currently see the entire viewer login page on their screen resolution
Graham Mills_2: buy them a bigger monitor?
Serene Jewell: lol
Caribia Zsun: 1
Graham Mills_2: sorry
Nathan Adored: all the more reason to devise a way to make the various section s on it collaspible
Ilan Tochner: But having destinations and new in Kitely Market be side by side really limits how much current / relevant things we show with images
Selby Evans: Existing users can find info whereever yoou put it -- if you tell them where
Ilan Tochner: People from group 1 will miss the collapsing part Nathan
Ilan Tochner: People usually stick with default
Moonrise Azalee: Could it be set as is, with as you and Serene suggested about forum/event side by side. And jsut reduced forum post info. Perhaps smaller thumbnails for Marketplace?
Ilan Tochner: many of the images people use for products and worlds are already hard to decipher at the existing size
Nathan Adored: maybe some sort of click-here for a reduced-version of the page, for those with smaller display?
Moonrise Azalee: Well then, the best that can be done is the events next to forums and most people do see at least a hint of the header of Forums. even me in my small monitor
Serene Jewell: My two cents... make the words "Destinations, New in Kitely Market, and New Forum Posts" smaller. Tighten up the space above them by a few pixels so that "New Forum Posts" will peek up over the edge of the their monitor. And make those rounded corners square like the Grid Info Box.
Selby Evans: Forum lines are of no use to me -- they open in IE and dont see me logged in. so I cant respond
Dot Matrix: Here's a suggestion....
Selby Evans: and I hate IE anyway
Dot Matrix: Put the worlds images and the events calendar side by side
Dot Matrix: Both are to do with inworld things
Nathan Adored: they don't call it Internet Exploder for nothing...
Dot Matrix: put the forum links and the market images side by side
Serene Jewell: Definitely take out the (posted 2 hours ago in forum " text repace with the word "in"
Dot Matrix: both are to do with off-world activities
Dot Matrix: What you want to do with the log in page is get people quickly to find what's happening in world
Moonrise Azalee: Removing timestamps for forums will def make space. And i agree with Seren about slightly smaller font for the Headers.
Dot Matrix: Having them side by side means people won't need to scroll
Moonrise Azalee: That and squaring can all help ensure that Forum and Events makes an appearance at the bottom.
Ilan Tochner: Question whether timestamp doesn't show it's active?
Nathan Adored: presuably the threads showing up will be only the most recently posted to anyway.... so no real need for datestamps
Serene Jewell: It IS a bit of good info, but not worth the space. And it changes every time you log in. People figure that out quickly
Moonrise Azalee: nah - people will still click on it. if they want to see.
Moonrise Azalee: right
Ilan Tochner: So to sum up, the suggestion here is the following? :
Ilan Tochner: 1) Reduce size of titles
Dot Matrix: Is it known what size or aspect ratio monitors are mostly used?
Ilan Tochner whispers: 2) Place Worlds (3)
Ilan Tochner: 2) Place Worlds (3 worlds) | Events in the first row
Ilan Tochner: 3) Place New in KM (3 items) | Forums in second row
Ilan Tochner: 4) square panel edges not round
Ilan Tochner: ?
Don Smith: ok
Moonrise Azalee: sure!
Dot Matrix: Yes, but maybe put the market items to the right of the forums.
maya eight_2: yes
Dot Matrix: so that the images are balanced.
Moonrise Azalee: i dont think you can fit market items so easily if they are side by side
Moonrise Azalee: plus then you have images beside links
Dot Matrix: Doesn't matter.
Moonrise Azalee: i would think if doing side by side, then Forum/Events as initiallly proposed would worl better
Dot Matrix: Worlds are the more important -- then events.
Nathan Adored: maybe smaller, thumbnail images that expand to the current size when moused over?
Don Smith: << there was a question about VR i would like to hear before the meeting ends >>
Dot Matrix: (Trying to get the events ABOVE the scroll line)
Ilan Tochner: Noted Don
Moonrise Azalee: I dont know if worlds are more important. i mean i agree they ARE important - but they dont denote active communty. but thats just my opinion.
Graham Mills_2: erm, they're prioritised to show active worlds iirc
Moonrise Azalee: I guess i just cant get a visual of the other proposition.
Moonrise Azalee: the initial one i was able to grasp better. im of course fine with whatever
Don Smith: Agree with Moonrise, if i am new and dont know which worlds are which yet, Knowing where events i might want to go to are is more important
Selby Evans: I suggest that event are more likely to be actionable information.
Graham Mills_2: true
Ilan Tochner: 3 items in worlds and items seems like a few, if events and forums posts scroll a bit (if they are 2 lines per item because of reduced width) should worlds and new items scroll as well to show a total of 6 items instead of 3 (or the current 5)?
Ozwell Wayfarer: agree with Don and Moonrise. For new folks, events are more important than worlds.
Moonrise Azalee: Scrolling worlds and items is a good idea.
Caribia Zsun: yes
Dot Matrix: What if... world names were shown of those worlds with people in them
Ilan Tochner: I actually meant with a scroll bar. Did you mean auto scrolling?
Moonrise Azalee: scroll bar
Moonrise Azalee: keep it simple.
Serene Jewell: If you go back to your goal, encourage new users and update existing ones, the Market items should be last.
Serene Jewell: It's all just our opinions. Someone will have to try some layouts to see the real impact. Maybe mock some ideas up and put in the forums for future input?
Dot Matrix: and where the world images are good, they are shown -- so Kitely merchant sandbox would have just a link
Moonrise Azalee: screen shots with voting?
Ilan Tochner: We use the data from Explore Worlds page Dot so we already show the publicly accessible worlds with the most people inside them (other than the two official kitely ones which are hard coded)
Moonrise Azalee: i love our log in page. As it is. To easily have forums and events display, squaring tables, smaller headers. but i agree screenshots/mock ups help lol
Ilan Tochner: This is a simple HTML page (the layout) so we can accept a better layout than the one we have now as a submission (we just don't promise to use it)
Serene Jewell: You can always do some A/B testing. Try it one way for one week, another way for another week, compare data.
Ilan Tochner: If you can create somethign more professional that addresses the goals of the viewer login page better than what we did then we'll love to have your input
Dot Matrix: Taking the discussion to the forum sounsd a good plan.
Graham Mills_2: anyone got any news on 0.9?
Dot Matrix: Especially with mockups -- it is difficult to visualise sometimes.
Ilan Tochner: Please do so Dot. I promise to take this into serious consideration and read everything posted
Ilan Tochner: Timeline we have another couple of weeks (maybe 3 before we can roll this out, workng on other issues still) so best to finalize this in about 1 week's time.
Ilan Tochner: (let's say by end of day on Saturday)
Kayaker Magic: I went to the OS 0.9 Dev meeting last Tuesday, lots of hopeful movement.
Ilan Tochner: Good to hear Kayaker.
Ilan Tochner: Please share
Ozwell Wayfarer: are they adressing the physics issues people have been reporting?
Graham Mills_2: no chatlog posted yet?
Kayaker Magic: Diva (one of the devs that "quit" recently) is fixing bugs again.
Serene Jewell: I've been monitoring the IRC channel. Interesting conversation where the devs say don't install this thing yet! Friends don't let friends install .9!
Kayaker Magic: She found the one where I could not fly an avatar back and forth across var borders. (not fixed yet, but working on it)
Nathan Adored: oddly, one of the grids I spend a lot of time on is switching to 0.9 for their main grid Tuesday. oO
Moonrise Azalee: What is the main reason for creating this newer version?
Serene Jewell: Kayaker posted a great item to the Mantis, full of testing help. A model mantis, Kayaker.
Serene Jewell: Which grid, Nathan?
Kayaker Magic: Dan (the dev who runs OSgrid) has created a schedule of bugs to fix before the next 0.9 release.
Nathan Adored: DN
Serene Jewell: DN?
Moonrise Azalee: dream nation
Dot Matrix: Dream Nation
Serene Jewell: Do they have customers/clients?
Nathan Adored: Just got a notice about it when I logged in there today. Kinda figured they'd wait a few more weeks, but....
Nathan Adored: well, most of the sims on that world are hosted no teir own service....
Kayaker Magic: Ubit (the guy who wrote ubODE) has been absent recently but is supposed to have time to go through the ubODE mantises soon. (Mantusi?)
Nathan Adored: crossing my fongers and toes... heh...
Nathan Adored: fingers, even
Moonrise Azalee: Manti?
Moonrise Azalee:
Serene Jewell: Do dream nation customers have to upgrade too?
Graham Mills_2: manteeth?
Dot Matrix: There was also a question about VR stuff...?
Nathan Adored: upgrade whwat? their viewrs? all but one or two sims on there are hosted on DN-owned servers
Ozwell Wayfarer: yes lets not forget Jays VR question
Serene Jewell: If those people buy things from Kitely Market, they may not work. They should be warned or something.
Nathan Adored: well, DN doesn't have hypergrid turned on, and doesn't have Kitely Market enabled either.
Moonrise Azalee: ahh.
Serene Jewell: OK. I'll simmer down. lol
Moonrise Azalee:
Serene Jewell: What was the VR question?
Ilan Tochner: VR question now please
Selby Evans: I asked JayR.Cela
Selby Evans: jay not wanting to ask the question now
Nathan Adored: and while we all wait for the question, we hear a pin drop.....
Nathan Adored: oh. oO
Ilan Tochner: Jay please go on and ask while we wait
Ozwell Wayfarer: lol maybe he fell asleep
Ilan Tochner: Happened to us all... ahmm
Serene Jewell: silly rabbits
Selby Evans: Not asleep -- I talked with him
Nathan Adored: was his question answered indirectly, or something?
Serene Jewell: Any other announcements?
Ilan Tochner: Hi Jenley
Serene Jewell: The new greeter group is doing great by the way!
maya eight_2: I do not have any questions - I am liking the new page design as described.
Jenley Jones: hello all
)
Don Smith: I will ask, how does VR work, if at all, in virtual worlds, like kitely?
Selby Evans: Jay is on 3rd Rock
Caribia Zsun: thanks Serene
Dot Matrix: New Evergreen Island is pretty optimised for VR headsets
Nathan Adored: you man the stereoscopic goggles? usually needs a supported viewer, but should work the same on any grid that supports that viewer
Ilan Tochner: There is support for VR mode in some viewers Don but the world needs to be very optimized and you need to have high end hardware to get a good enough frame rate
Ilan Tochner: Ho, another update before I forget
Ozwell Wayfarer: Ho!
Caribia Zsun: ok=)
Graham Mills_2: I'll see your Ho! and raise you a Ho!Ho!
Ravyn Stormchyld: if you have two monitors put one one either side of your face and that is the extent of VR with opensim as it is
Dot Matrix: Bah Humbug
Ilan Tochner: Since the inworld groups have started getting more activity some people have started flagging the offline IMs they create as spam which is marking us for possible trouble down the road
Graham Mills_2: Is that a Chinese brand, Dot?
Ilan Tochner: So we'll be doing the following:
JayR.Cela @hg.osgrid.org: if there is a problem / more an likely is me
Ilan Tochner: We'll be adding feature to the account Settings page for sending/not sending group announcements to your email when you're offline
Moonrise Azalee: Good idea
Dot Matrix: Great! Thanks
Serene Jewell: That
maya eight_2: Yes, I like that idea
Graham Mills_2: yes
Selby Evans: good idea.
Serene Jewell: That's not a viewer thing?
Dot Matrix: (useful for alts)
Ilan Tochner: We'll be settign it to dsiable by default so anyone who wants to have them will need to enable them
Moonrise Azalee: tho i have no problem with receiving - but with alts could be a bit much
JayR.Cela @hg.osgrid.org: i do something that causes a problem
Ilan Tochner: We don't use the viewer setting and it is just for offline IMs in general
Nathan Adored: yeah, the viewr-checkbox for that only works on SL, you have to do it grom a web interface on (most?) opensim
Serene Jewell: ahhh
Moonrise Azalee: hmm. but if its disabled by default then people might miss out on group messages unless it is very obvious that they need to change it.
maya eight_2: I am sorry - I have to go- this has been a very good discussion!
Ilan Tochner: we'll have 2 settings one for personal IMs and one for group announcements (when you're offline)
Serene Jewell: tc Maya
Ozwell Wayfarer: Bye Maya!
Ilan Tochner: Bye maya
Dot Matrix: Excellent -- that is exactly what is needed.
Dot Matrix: Bye Maya
Keif Denimore: cya Maya
Selby Evans: Good change.
Giz Ihnen: bye Maya
Ilan Tochner: If we don't set it to disabled by default then we'll continue having email flagging issues and get banned by amazon
Moonrise Azalee: ooh
Moonrise Azalee: ok
Nathan Adored: and yeah, usually tyhe mechanism to turn off or on offline notices selectivey per user is a specially-added module for opensim grids
Moonrise Azalee: well taht wouldnt be good
Serene Jewell: Those announcements go to my gmail account where the Google monster munches on them. Every once in a while I burp it (mass delete.)
Ilan Tochner: Our email is handled by our own system via Amazon, not an OpenSim module but yes, it isn't a standard part of OpenSim
Nathan Adored: Yeha, I remember DN had to roll their own. I have no idea what other grids have this feature.
Moonrise Azalee: Right.
Moonrise Azalee: its different for everyone
Nathan Adored: I DO wonder what it would take for that offline-notices checkbox in the viewers to be made to work, tho....
Ravyn Stormchyld: i gotta get going see you all later
Selby Evans: Must go -- bye all
Graham Mills_2: bye
Serene Jewell: take care all
Ozwell Wayfarer: yeah I think its time to go. Still have a few things to do before bed. See you everyone!
Nathan Adored: sweet dreams when you get therte, mr ozwell
Ilan Tochner: By Ozwell
Ilan Tochner: Bye Selby
Kayaker Magic: I'm out of here also
Caribia Zsun: I will hit the hay too
see ya folks and thanks Ilan
Ilan Tochner: It's a single setting Nathan
Giz Ihnen: it is that time of day isn't it. have a good sunday everyone
Ilan Tochner: We need 2
Moonrise Azalee: brb grabbing coffee
Dot Matrix: A goodly crowd gathering.
Nathan Adored: better than a badly crowd gathering...

Nathan Adored: I'll..... uh.... I'll see myself out....
Dot Matrix: Noooo Nathan -- you stay....
Serene Jewell: I'll give my usual announcement that the Kitely calendar and other fun things can be found at http://www.signofthekite.com
Ozwell Wayfarer: lol
Ilan Tochner: Hi everyone
Dot Matrix: Hi Ilan
Ravyn Stormchyld: hello
Graham Mills_2 waves
AngelCat Wingtips: hi Ilan

Talia Sunsong: Waves Hello
Ozwell Wayfarer: evening Ilan

Keif Denimore: Hi IIan
Serene Jewell: I know Freda has been filling up the calendar lately!
Ilan Tochner: Let me send out the regular invites to people who are currently inworld, please ignore if you're already here

Dot Matrix: Seanchai are having events too this week
Serene Jewell: Any other announcements whle Ilan rounds up the tardy people?
Dot Matrix: Shandon has been a bit busy...
Moonrise Azalee: back
Graham Mills_2: wb
Moonrise Azalee: thankee.

Dot Matrix: WB
Freda Frostbite: If anyone is interested in doing virtual theater at Babble Box, please IM me as we will be mounting our first production this fall.
Dot Matrix: There's history month coming up in August too
Freda Frostbite: Oh yeah, there is
Dot Matrix: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=3358
Dot Matrix: (it's a long thread...)
Moonrise Azalee:

Ilan Tochner: Hi maya
Dot Matrix: Hi Maya!
maya eight_2: Hello all!
Freda Frostbite: We have a bunch of sims participating and a lot of arts and literary evevnts on the schedule, but there is plenty of room and time for me. IM me if yoiu are interested in doing otr hosting a History Month event.
Freda Frostbite: for more
Keif Denimore: Hi Maya
Freda Frostbite: Lord, I need sleep
Freda Frostbite: LOL
Serene Jewell: Me too.
Dot Matrix: Too many events... bad for sleep

maya eight_2: Please do remove and delete the 2
maya eight_2: That would be great!
Freda Frostbite: No-- nothing to do with events --mass shooting near us over night-- hard to sleep once we heard what was happening.
Kayaker Magic: BRB, need to relog
Graham Mills_2: terrible businees
Serene Jewell: so very sad
Caribia Zsun: =/
Moonrise Azalee:

Dot Matrix: Oh no! Is that the Orlando one?
maya eight_2: Yes the shooting was terrible!
Freda Frostbite: yes
Nathan Adored: there obviously must have already been another Maya Eight
Dot Matrix: Horrible

maya eight_2: Here in California we are dealing with election fraud
AngelCat Wingtips: world is going bad

Freda Frostbite: several states are
maya eight_2: The other Mayaeight was me
Nathan Adored: oh, I'm sure there's election fraud everywhere, to some extent or another
maya eight_2: I had begun an account - then started up with another later
JayR.Cela @hg.osgrid.org: *waves* hi there everyone / dont mind me / i just here for the fun of it / thank you / END
Ilan Tochner: Hi JayR
JayR.Cela @hg.osgrid.org: :_)
Ilan Tochner: please take a sit
Graham Mills_2: welcome jayr
Nathan Adored: So, the bad news about Hilary CLinton running against Donald Trump is.... ONE of them is gonna get elected. Oo
Dot Matrix: Hi JayR
Ilan Tochner: Hi Kayaker
Don Smith: Election Fraud......thats PERPOSTEROUS!, Everyone knows politicians are %100 honest!!! < insert laughter here >
maya eight_2: LOL Nathan!
Keif Denimore: Hi JayR
JayR.Cela @hg.osgrid.org: thanks
JayR.Cela @hg.osgrid.org: i will
Ozwell Wayfarer: Is that confirmed now? Hillary vs Trump? I might move to the moon. :/
Kayaker Magic: Vote for the lesser of two evils....
maya eight_2: I teach and we aere following along and doing a mock election! LOL Well.....the students are learning
Selby Evans: In Texas we don't have to deal with election fraud -- We just ignore it.
Graham Mills_2: hi brian
Ilan Tochner: Okay, let's settle down

Dot Matrix: (it is getting very umm... confusing

Ilan Tochner: It's a single setting Nathan
Giz Ihnen: it is that time of day isn't it. have a good sunday everyone

Ilan Tochner: We need 2

Re: Join us today at the Kitely Community Meeting (June 12)
I talked to Ilan last week about posting the chat from the weekly meetings here after the meeting. I didn't do it last week because it was full of timelines and personal announcements and I didn't have time to clean it up. But I did just post the chat from this week.
There is a lot of good information shared at these chats, but they are also sometimes like family gatherings and I wonder if posting them is ok. I mean the meeting IS open to anyone to attend.

In the Community Projects section of the forum, I've posted key extracts from the chatlog with additional details about the background image size, for further discussion and possible mock-ups.
