Marketplace stars reviews

Post by Aire Xaris »

Not a Fan

That being said, I recently received a two star rating and a completely irrelevant comment on one of my best selling products and one where there is a DEMO offered. the option I took was to contact the reviewer personally and to shoot Ilan a notecard. I did this because the only recourse I had was to A. Report my own product or B. reply publicly to the Troll. Put simply, I propose there be an option C. where merchants have the ability to in the future, Flag these types of inappropriate/ bogus reviews. I feel that As the system in place works now, the options given to the seller of publicly replying seem to encourage an old fashioned forum flame war. I for one don't feel that publicly chastising a critic, albeit a completely irrelevant and obvious troll who decided to use my product as a his personal soap box against kitely's payout system, is a logical course of action. I feel this does nothing to encourage someone to look beyond the original splash of a low star rating plastered just under the picture and short description of a product.
I don't know why this person chose to leave his mess on Marketplace or more specifically in my store, and more to the point just under a product he neither tried the Demo for or purchase for himself, but his attack did shine a very bright light on the fact that when you are "shopping" on Kitely MP your first "impression" offered is a picture of the product, short description and a Star rating. :(

The "two star" residue rating that was left behind after this person deleted his comment also shown a spotlight on the fact that there is no option to delete a review. One may retract/erase a comment but those stars stay right where they are. The action this person took, the only option he had, was to leave a five star and another bogus review, albeit a now very glowing and complimentary one~ still bogus.

Demos 8-)
I'm a fan.

You cannot get em delivered outside of kitely. I get that, I do.
I would like to be able to direct people via a link to a point where it is extremely easy for them to come into kitely, try the Demo and perhaps be encouraged to shop more in world, but I cannot seem to get a link to work on product description. Perhaps if these links slurl where an option that we could leave just under original splash of product, or even to the right of picture somewhere just under Category, store , Creator (etc) This might be more beneficial and certainly more obvious way to encourage immersive traffic,
I do not want to compare SL to kitely, I was a resident, still have somewhat of a presence, ~ kitely is my home.
however, you are given the option to put in your Slurl right there on your MP page and I think if we did that here as well it would encourage passerby's to take a more interactive approach.

To be clear I am aware that there is a Visit worlds section where slurls work and actually launch your client/offers teleport when pressed.
I know that the person can cut and paste the unworkable slurl in product description and manually launch .
I know that somewhere on some page on the Services section, paragraph 5 I believe, there is a sentence or two about a merchant sandbox, under the topic of Merchants where people can create/ sell products and perhaps if they put it together themselves, they may also use to DL a Demo that may or may not work on their grid.

I think it maybe more beneficial to kill all those birds with one stone by simply offering an In world link or direct slurl to product/demo.
/ Marketing and placement.
One still has the option of pressing the demo button on ex portables, which to me is just another avenue that creates more frustration to someone outside of Kitely. Instead of changing that or leaving it up to the creator to verbally direct hypergrid customers in a lengthy explanation of how to's, A slurl that directs someone to your grid/in world store/rezzed product, would be a great alternative as well as an immediate solution, and it may go a long way to discourage the type of messes people leave out of frustration via a rating system. :P

We already discussed this via email so I just want to update the thread that you can notify us about a product review that you think is not for the product or the merchant in question. If we then find it is indeed irrelevant, we will delete that review and star rating from the product page.
