Oddball Otoole kickstarting an old avie here!

And I have noticed some things! (I'm good at that )

First thing I have noticed: no splash screen in the viewer (Using Firestorm 4.5.1 (38838) Oct 28 2013 01:35:58 (Firestorm-Beta) with OpenSimulator support)
That's not a biggie, but the next thing I have noticed is pretty serious I think.

I decided to start a shop here on Kitely, threw a few bucks in and rent a standard region. When this region was all mine, I decided to upload an OAR from my Metropolis region because that has most of my stuffs on it.
The OAR loaded just fine, I deleted anything that was not created by me, and thought about the stuff I want to sell on the market place.

Buildings!

I have a vendor with some buildings in it on this OAR! This means I don't have to create textures, text files, rezz boxes etc! Way to go Oddy!! \o/
So I started to test the vendor (simple freebie vendor), and that worked.
Next thing I tested were the rezz boxes, and then I stumbled on something weird.

This rezzer system has 2 scripts: Rezzer Main script (Goes in the rezzbox) and rezzer slave script (Goes in the building parts)
The rezzer SLAVE script was no mod/no copy. I fixed that by opening another viewer, logged in on Metro, and copy/paste the slave script. Then I replaced the no mod/no copy scripts with the full perm scripts and tried to "record" the building again.

The MAIN rezzer script checks if the owner of the script/prim is also the creator, and since this script was 'created' (Copy&paste from a website) on Metropolis and then came via an OAR to Kitely, I assumed I still was the creator of this script.

NOPE!

According to the properties from the script I have on Metropolis, this script was created on 2013-12-30 12:52:40 by Oddball Otoole.
According to the propertied from the script I have uploaded in an OAR on Kitely, this script was created on 2013-12-30 12:52:40 by Miguel Rotunno.
I have a pic! (Check the description fields for creation data!)



So somehow a script I "created" on Metropolis (I did not actually script this script, I just copy and pasted a script from a website!) on 2013-12-30:12:52:40 got a new creator here on Kitely that created the exact same script (or script with the exact same name) on the exact same time!
Uploading OARs doesn't create only new worlds, it also creates new creators!

Did I stumble on a nasty opensim bug? (I hope so, I have never ever found a bug on my own!)

I hope this gets resolved!

Irrespective of nasty bugs or otherwise, I'm delighted to see you on Kitely so I can thank-you for one or your earlier OARs which I am using to house some of my own smaller builds. Many thanks and welcome back!

Kitely actually does have a login splash screen, unfortunately if you've using a viewer that visited Kitely before we set that up you may not see it. You can insure the splash page is displayed by going into your viewer's grid manager, selecting the Kitely entry, making sure the grid URI is set to http://grid.kitely.com:8002/, pressing the Refresh butting and finally pressing the Apply button. The grid manager in Firestorm is located in the viewer's Preferences > OpenSim (tab) > Grid Manager (tab).

As for the other issue, when you said you copy/pasted it. How did you create the Notecard into which you copy/pasted the script? Did you copy an existing script in your inventory or did you create the asset from scratch in your viewer using the New Notecard option? See http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Engl ... a-p/700057

I think I know what causes this behavior. At some point in the past, Miguel Rotunno loaded some of the objects that are in your OAR into one of his own worlds. I guess this is possible because this rezzer is commonly used? When he did that, he was set as the Creator of the item because the original creator had a UUID that is unknown in Kitely. But this means that from that point on, anyone that loads the exact same asset will not be set as the Creator anymore because we already know about this asset, and we know that Miguel Rotunno is the creator.

This is standard OpenSim behavior, but it looks like something that can be improved upon: people should be able to upload new copies of an already-known asset and be set as the Creator of the new asset. I'm not absolutely certain about this, since in truth there should only be one Creator for any particular asset, and how would we know which one it should be? This is tricky business, so it's not something that we'll do right away. For now, my suggestion is that if you have an asset where this happens (and it's important to you) then you should recreate it. I noticed that you already have a second copy of the Rezzer in your inventory where you are listed as the Creator, and that's the way to go.

You might also look into their export world report, it is very cool and as I find it quite useful, I expect you would also. Just do the export world and a link will come up to it with some info. [cost 150 kcs]

I am setting up a little shop on the Kitely Market (See link above, thanks Miney!)

As said before: Not a big problem.
I refreshed the login credentials by hitting the refresh button, than apply and it kept returning to Http://osgrid.kitely...etc.
After deleting the Kitely grid info, and adding a new one, it seems ok now.

About the creator issue:
It is (in this case) easy to resolve; I created a (1 prim) rezzer, logged in on Metro to copy the scripts, uploaded the textures for the rezzer and put things together.
I can think of cases that might be a bit more difficult to resolve, like people contacting the wrong person for assistance "Hello mister Rotunno, I have an issue with this rezzer system you created".
