Is youtube embed disabled? or am I doing something wrong?
If it is disabled for cost management of bandwidth reasons, I do understand.
Really its my hope that it is.
Because I have had years of experience with forums. And NO! matter what I do I can't get it to work.

It works. You've gotta put just the video code in. For example:
