offline responding

Heyo,

This is NOT a request for a new feature to come before enabling hypergating [and this sentence is just my tiresome continuing plug for HG].

It is also quite possible I have missed something, and if so, please feel free to correct me.

I am able to correspond with people by clicking their names if they have a market presence or if they are in my history, either by responding to offline IMs or generating my own IM for them to get inworld [which I assume they also get as an offline message to emails if they are not inworld atm as I do, if they have that enabled].

This is a time and energy saver that I use quite often and appreciate it that I can. Only SL and AVN currently have responding to IMs from outofworld working, afaik.

I do understand some of the tech needed to enable the full blown thing and though I would love to see that in the future, it is not my request now.

I sometimes get IMs that it appears I can only respond by going inworld, properly, as some are not in the forums or do not check their PMs.

Is there something I may be missing in this?

It also appears the responding as noted above does not save the contiguous IM history to my computer file for the avatar either, is there some way this could be fixed?

Hi Minethere - You may already know this, but there's at least one other way (that I know of) to send IM's from offline. Do a search for the person you want to IM from the Public Worlds page. If they have a public world, go to their World Page and click on their name under World Manager and choose "Send Message" from the window that pops up. A new box will come up that you can type a message in and send from. They should get a email telling them they have an offline IM. You could also go directly to their World Page to click on their name.

ah yes, right, similar thing but I had not actually considered that...however, in the case of someone we know-)) those and similar worlds do not show up for this lowly [and poor] avatar who only uses Kitely's free services....thx for the heads up tho...hugsss

The IM history you're referring to is saved by the viewer so if you send an IM using other means the viewer won't save it.

yea...possibly something can be done about that someday. [I lose track of conversations and it helps me look like the Court's fool that I really am in reality, but that I like to fool people, sometimes, into thinking otherwise.......................]
