"Trusted customer" status?

Something I have been thinking about recently and has been mentioned here and there on people blogs is the price of export items.
I can understand some customers being a little put off by the prices being asked for some items. I also totally understand the reasons for setting those prices at the point they are. The problem is there is no halfway measure. You either give "god powers" to the end user or you dont. There is no granularity, and I have already encountered situations where I have really wished I could provide a more granular solution. Which got me thinking about mechanisms we could implement to maybe get a bit closer to a situation where all parties feel they are getting a fair deal.
What I would like to see (I know: HG and the road-map and everything, I am not asking for this to be done tomorrow) is the ability to set a "preferred customer" or "trusted user" status. Its no secret that merchants factor in a certain amount into the price of an item for "the copybot factor" or whatever you want to call it. However, for frequent customers or people that for whatever reason you "trust" beyond the usual level, it would be nice to be able shave a few dollars off. This approach has the added bonus of also acting as a sort of "customer reward" scheme. Merchants can choose to opt in or not of course.
I am not sure how exactly it might look implemented, but I cant imagine it would be very difficult to do. I guess it becomes more complex if we are talking about other grids, but I think it would be a good move for Kitely, merchants and customers to have some sort of system like this in place.
