Re: Badge/logo for hypergrid-enabled worlds
I think that for future use, it's best that any design we select also have a version in a 1024x1024 lossless compression format (PNG).
So 48x48/32x32 (to see how it looks in the likely world page badge size), 1024x1024 (for resizing to other sizes), and a 16x16 icon (which needs to be simplified and most likely can't just be a resized version due to the limited pixels).

There is some talk of a design competition on the education list. There are a couple of Overte folk on there though they've yet to express an opinion. I suspect this may have a little way to go yet but don't let it stand in the way. Handy's is good for me as a first draft.

Given both are destinations, might the visual cue be helpful for people who are not conversant with hypergridding?

Yes, provided they're not in a helicopter (I'm second-guessing Keith here).

Re: Badge/logo for hypergrid-enabled worlds
Ah, sorry, Keith. I should have thought of Quayside.
But the context for using these would mostly be on a webpage, not inworld itself I would think. Inworld would be more likely to use a 3D structure themed to match the world hosting it.

Another suggestion: the letters hy (which, in English at least, seems quite friendly -- I can't rule out it's being something else for others though).

Googling "hypergrid symbol" throws up some maths papers (e.g. "An optimal lower bound for monotonicity testing over hypergrids"), some Hypergrid Business articles, and an ener hax post Information Kiosk & Teleport Symbol.
Edited to add that hy seems to be some sort of programming language linked with Python.

Personally, I think HG (HyperGrid) is clearer than Hy. But maybe an H will suffice if presented in a unique way that can be identifiable.

Re: Badge/logo for hypergrid-enabled worlds
I didn't think "helipad" when I first saw the circle, which is funny because I was an air traffic controller when I was in the Air Force many years ago. I do see Kieth's point though. There's a light circle behind the H that can be seen in the largest icon. I wonder if making that a bit darker and adding more concentric circles behind the H might distinguish it better? Maybe a little orange in addition to the Kitely blues would help distinguish the circles too? The smaller it gets, the less visible the circles, but that's going to happen with almost anything. At least with this the H is very identifiable.
