Kitely Mentors Group Meeting, 17 April 2013: summary

Ilan shared some big news with those attending the meeting. His family is expecting twins! “I have 4 children now: my Son, my twins on the way and Kitely. All need nourishing,” said Ilan. Those present offered congratulations.

Ilan had a big thank you to all those who had worked on Kitely Plaza. “They did a great job and it should be acknowledged,” said Ilan. He said that everyone who had helped with Kitely Plaza will receive a place in the plaza, with a 500 prim allocation, if they wish. They will get first pick during a two week period. Once that period closes they won’t be guaranteed a spot, so they need to choose a spot as soon as possible. After Ilan lets them know the space is available they should begin adding items as soon as possible in order to retain it. Builders should go to Kitely Plaza and place a square 0.5 x 0.5 x 0.5 prim with their name on it, floating 1m above a slot in the plaza. Once the two weeks are over, spots will be allocated on a first come first serve basis of merchants that approach Ilan and can demonstrate they create good quality content. Spots will be allocated for approximately 6 months and thereafter will be determined by lottery between Kitely Marketplace merchants.

Ilan will reserve a few spots for featured merchants which will be determined close to the marketplace opening. Featured merchants will retain their spots for a year and then will be determined by some objective metric after that.

Those who currently have items set for sale at Kitely Plaza should take them back into inventory before Ilan takes ownership of the plaza. They can put them back afterwards.

Ilan will be taking ownership of Kitely Plaza and the items contained there early next week so that he can optimize things causing lag. All creator information will remain intact. After that, people will be able to start adding to their shops. Any Kitely Plaza builders wanting to make changes, should complete them by Monday morning.

Kitely Plaza has several places for displaying art. Anyone that wishes to display their art should contact Ilan or Bladyblue Bommerang.

The merchant control panel will be ready in 2-3 weeks.

Ilan explained that Kitely will soon start advertising on SLU and is looking toward the Kitely community for help. Some people have given permission to use images of their worlds in advertising http://forums.kitely.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=218. “However we need to have a good landing page to send them to from those ads,” said Ilan. The ad will need to be graphic with a few sentences - A simple HTML page with a link to Kitely’s homepage. Ilan said, “If anyone is willing to work with us on creating the image for this page, it can really help the ads be more effective.” He went on to describe what is needed, “we'll want to include a few sentences that go with the ad text (TBD) but that show off the great content that can be found in Kitely. A montage of available themes possibly. We'll work the details out with whomever is willing to help and earn credit for having designed the Kitely ad landing page.”

Lynne Hand said she had good software and would be happy to help, but that she wasn’t a graphic designer. Ilan thanked Lynne and suggested a group of people could join forces and help like the recent Transfer Stations that Dot Macchi created and refined with community feedback and help from Ada Radius and Dennis Albion. Ilan said he loved the result and thought it made the stations much better. Ruby ODegee also said she’d be happy to help.

The meeting ended when Ilan was about to share something important about the upcoming marketplace but a couple of avatars left the meeting. Since there was no longer a quorum, he decided to adjourn the meeting and delay the discussion until next week.

Hi Ada,

If you get a spot in two weeks you'll be able to keep it for 6 months before it will be reallocated in a lottery between Kitely Market merchants. If you become a Featured Merchant then you'll be able to either keep the spot you choose now (in two weeks time) or switch to one of the spots reserved for Featured Merchants. In either case, as a Featured Merchant you'll be able to keep the spot you wind up with for 1 year instead of the regular 6 months.

ok, btw, I am leaving Avia Bonne's Tomb Raider OAR up on my region for a while. I won't be doing a new freebie OAR for a while as I have other things I need to concentrate on.

Since she has given me full permission to do this then it might also be something you might use as a showcase photo op.
