Key bits:
The meeting agreed that something like the Google Calendar Agenda view would be most appropriate for the Events listing.Ilan Tochner wrote:We're continuing with working on fixing various backend issues and are moving on to adding Events
1) This will be added to the Viewer Login page so will be visible to everyone logging in
2) We'll be connecting this to the existing Google calendar that is run by the Sign of the Kite folks
3) Managment / moderation will be by the community. (i.e. the aforementioned folks). They have proven themselves dedicated to the welfare of the Kitely community and more than up to the task
4) We'll be adding support for a bit of metadata that the moderators will be able to add to the calander events to add support for images, times, world URLs, etc. so our system will be able to display them nicely in the viewer login page and possibly in an additional page on the kitely website...
The goal is to have the Google+ calendar be the system used to manage the events and our Events System will read it to display what we display ...
[The current login page] is a simple HTML page (the layout) so we can accept a better layout than the one we have now as a submission (we just don't promise to use it)
If you can create something more professional that addresses the goals of the viewer login page better than what we did then we'll love to have your input
Timeline we have another couple of weeks (maybe 3 before we can roll this out, workng on other issues still) so best to finalize this in about 1 week's time. (let's say by end of day on Saturday)
The meeting also agreed that the current viewer login page is about right for numbers of images.
It was suggested that possible alternative layouts of the login page could be mocked up and discussed in the forums. Please see the chatlog for details.
Additional info for mock-ups: The logo is a floater on the background to accommodate different viewer window sizes. Ilan can send a copy of the Kitely logo (with outline) to anyone who needs it for a design proposal. The backgrounds need to be a PNG Image, 2048 × 1280 pixels -- the maximum size supported by viewers.
