Is it possible to organise the Announcements so that only relevant ones appear when you click a subheading in the Board Index?
This would help to prune the general list of Announcements (which fills the screen every single time and gets in the way of using the forum) while showing those Announcements obviously pertinent to an individual's interest at that particular time.

Re: Filter forum Announcements according to topic?
Hi Sue,
As per your suggestion, we've removed some old global announcements and made some into forum topic-specific announcements.
There are now just 3 global accoutrements:
1) A permanent one regarding respecting intellectual property, which is a topic people should always keep in mind.
2) Two announcements that are recent and that we want new users (or potential ones) who enter the forum to notice regardless of which topic they view.
