When we log in we often initiate teleporting to a desired world. However while we are waiting, sometimes a friend sends us a TP invitation to a party or to come see something interesting. We wish we could go, but the system won't permit it. Or sometimes we change our minds and want to go somewhere else instead, but can't because the first teleport is active and won't give up the process.
It would be great if we could initiate a new teleport and the existing teleport be automatically cancelled. The loading world might be stopped from loading, and our second teleport immediately initialized.
Thanks for your time! : )

Re: Feature Request: Teleport cancellation
Hi Snoots,
Teleport requests to an active world are immediate. When you teleport to a world that needs to be started up that process takes time and a space on a server. Once a world is started it can't just be stopped immediately to enable a differet world to be started on the same server. That world has to be shut down cleanly first and that takes time.

Re: Feature Request: Teleport cancellation
So... how about going ahead and let the world start up... but allow the avatar to cancel the teleport and teleport somewhere else instead? Then the world having loaded and informed the teleport has been cancelled, can just shut down again.
It's not a matter of one world replacing another on the server. It's a matter of TPing an avatar to a desired location. We know on SL and within Firestorm there are settings for "Cancel a TP". That's what I'm speaking of: being able to cancel the TP and initiate a new one. Whatever the loading world has to do to finish loading and then shut down is 'nuther thing. : )

Re: Feature Request: Teleport cancellation
You can easily cancel a teleport to a world that's already active like you can on other grids (assuming you do it quickly enough before actually starting to rezz at your destination).
Cancelling a teleport to a world that is being started because of your own teleport request is not supported because supporting it would require that we start up multiple worlds at the same time for a single user. That's a problem as it would require that we keep additional servers on stand by in order to prevent other people from having to wait longer for worlds to start up. That would in turn increase our datacenter costs and that could force us to increase our prices or reduce the amount of server resources we allocate to active worlds. I doubt that that is a tradeoff that many people would be happy about.
