Re: HGB monthly stats

I think this is good, for Kitely, and others.

The trending continues to be for hypergrid enabled places which is excellent news to my eyes.

It is also interesting to note those who lost of the supposedly more active grids [who are also not HG enabled] and one can glean further information by looking through this;

http://www.hypergridbusiness.com/statis ... tatistics/

One item I pay attention to is the amount of new accounts in relation to the increase [or decrease] in actual active players. While Kitely had positive numbers it does appear to show that retention is still an issue. Not that this is uncommon but simply that it might be good for others more invested here to think about how to increase it.

Still, nevertheless, both grids Maria often notes are supposedly more active, in fact lost active players while having large new account numbers which shows Kitely is still ok in that area, but needs improvement.

[disclaimer: I have not had much coffee yet so disregard this if it makes no sense at all]

    :o

So it doesn't get lost with the page turn, here's the post that Constance is referring to:
Kitely hit a new high for active users this month according to the Hypergrid Business survey for October 2014.

Kitely's numbers are:
October 2014: 6267 (+138) regions; 26960 registered users (+1298); 931 active users (+102)

Active users over time:

Code: Select all

Year Jan Feb Mar Apr May Jun Jul Aug Sep Oct Nov Dec
2011 392 183 137 190 162 123 113 119 125
2012 151 200 327 348 371 240 238 195 242 293 583 270
2013 274 370 386 602 633 628 493 468 497 606 716 641
2014 522 599 629 723 587 826 909 799 829 931
I suspect that Kitely is well aware of the retention issue. It's a shame that the plug-in had to be discontinued because of external factors -- that really did ease the way in for first-timers.

Maria's monthly report on grid statistics has just been posted: All OpenSim stats up in November.

The report includes a section on Kitely Market, which I've quoted in the thread To export or not to export, that is the question. There's been a 20% increase in the number of exportable items this month, and ...
Ilan wrote:Two thirds of the items that are bought in Kitely Market are ones that are exportable. Even Kitely users prefer buying exportable items, so it’s not surprising that even merchants who originally sold only unexportable items are beginning to sell exportable items as well.
The number of active users in Kitely hit a new high for the second month in a row, increasing by 33 to 964.

Kitely's numbers are:
November 2014: 6335 (+68) regions; 28125 registered users (+1165); 964 active users (+33)

While positive numbers are, well, positive...lol...I also like to review the negative numbers because it helps me to see the overall trending going on. I am not so much interested, personally, with single grids but more broad brush movements.

So I always look over this page also;

http://www.hypergridbusiness.com/statis ... tatistics/

Which she does for each month also.

In particular people might note those whose numbers are in the red [ - ] [and no she does not actually use a red coloring...lol], and I think it is important for those who find stats interesting, to view this also.

I glean from this, especially over some months, that the hypergated aspects of OpenSim are definitely where people are going and as Kitely has the hypergrid Market delivery it also has enabled hypergating [and even gives one the webgui option to enable or disable it for their own worlds/regions.

Since she has not done this page in frames I open two of it, one to keep the category name foremost and the other to scroll down.

Its interesting to note that with monthly fluctuations aside, Kitely has more or less doubled its active users each year. While it might not be huge numbers, its still good solid, stable growth.

So hopefully by Jan 2016 we will be in the 1600-2000 range :)

Maria's March report on grid statistics has just been posted: OpenSim passes 30,000 active users.

Kitely continues to grow in regions and in registered and active users. The number of active users increased this month by 10.6% to another record high of 1109, which is a 22.3% increase so far this year over December 2014's figure of 907.

Maria's April report on grid statistics has just been posted: Regions, grids hit new record highs.
HG Business wrote:The land area of OpenSim’s public worlds increased by the equivalent of 1,571 standard regions, to a new high of 59,512 standard region equivalents, or 3,902 square kilometers. Biggest gainers were OSgrid with 527 new regions, Atek Grid with 254 new regions, Kitely with 125 new regions and FrancoGrid with 103 new regions. ...

All four of the top land gainers were hypergrid-enabled, allowing their residents to travel freely to other grids. ...

The number of registered users increased by 8,661 to 441,840, with InWorldz bringing in the most new registrations at 2,006, followed by Kitely with 1,503, and OSgrid, back in strength from a long hiatus, with 820.
Kitely's numbers are:
April 2015: 6947 (+125) regions; 34864 registered users (+1503); 961 active users (-148)

Why the drop in active users? Other popular grids reported a similar drop, which HG Business suggests might be seasonal:
HG Business wrote:Metropolis lost 392 active users this month, possibly as a result of some residents moving back to OSgrid. However, OSgrid also lost 213 active users, so perhaps the reason for the drop is seasonal, with folks taking spring holidays.
