Kitely Memorial Park
For those who missed today's community meeting, we were talking about Gregg Legendary. Somebody suggested we needed a memorial park to honor the good people we've lost and Ilan genrously created a new sim for it.
I've made a quick sketch for the terrain. What do you think? It's a very simple on but that's probably what we need. It's the content that matters after all, not the ground.

Re: Kitely Memorial Park
It's a fantastic idea,
it's indeed about 'content' not th eland itself,
a beautiful (peaceful = beautiful, right), place would be so awesome,
paying respect to a person we liked - loved - were friends with, means so much in life,
and 'going to a rest place' is soothing for the heart,
putting lovely 'donno the right word', like flowers or items the person created him-herself, or what they loved etc, gives it more meaning,
its like rl really,
im so pro,
if i can help (with my possibilities),lemme know (building something or so?)
thx to koshari i post i saw this post, i missed it as well,
hopefully many pple will respond ♥

Re: Kitely Memorial Park
I have a question for everybody here.
It seems we will have some memorials that are a bit too large to fit the original 1x1 sim concept and Ilan has generously offered to expand it to a 2x2. How should the layout be?
As far as I can see, we have four alternatives:
(The picture only illustrates the general concepts, not the exact shape(s) of the island(s))
A: One big island
That's the most obvious solution of course but it is rather massive and filling up all that space with placeholder content in one go is going to be quite a lot of work.
B: Four islands with different themes
This was how I understood it at first. One advantage is that we can have different environments to fit different content, a temperate zone one like the one we have now, maybe a tropical island etc. Another advantage is that we don't have to decorate them all right away, each island can wait until we have some actual content for it.
C: A big island in the middle surronded with a few slightly smaller ones connected with bridges to the main island
Similar to alternative A but it breaks up the mnassive ground with some nice waterways.
D: One big island as the centerpoint and for the smaller memorials plus several small islands, each dedicated to one large memorial
The smaller islands are not created at first but added as and when they are needed. This gives those who want to make big memorials absolute freedom to do build whatever they like without having to worry about the environment.
This is of course the solution I prefer since it would mean much less work for me but I don't really have that strong an opinion and I can do any of the others too if people give me a little more time.

Re: Kitely Memorial Park
I prefer the 3rd and 4th option in that last post, or a combination of those two. One big island, and some smaller ones, with or without bridges.

Re: Kitely Memorial Park
I like option C because we have a large area of land for a park, which fits our original intention in naming it Kitely Memorial Park. It's big enough for trails, the community building and small quaint outdoor meeting areas. We could include several smaller memorials here and there along the trails, also our original intention. Then, we can have 5, 6, or 7 surrounding islands of varying sizes—one would be for Luna’s memorial for Veritas, and the islands could have several smaller memorials on each.
Veritas’s memorial is already built, and it’s large enough to need its own small island. Going forward, we could restrict the sizes of future memorials if we think it’s necessary.
We can add the islands one by one, it's not necessary to pre-build them all. But if we do, I'm down with helping.
Tess, you don't have to do all of the terraforming and landscaping yourself. I can help with it and I'm sure there are others that can too. I do appreciate everything that you've done so far and you have a very good eye for it.
I think option D has too many small islands; it feels a bit disconnected to me. Fewer islands, each with several small memorials and footbridges to the main park, would create a better sense of unity, imo.
Tess, please post these illustrations and this text on the Discord server so people there can vote too. Thanks!
