Ah no, the guy you're thinking of (Fred/Ferd) runs the free scripts site and indeed has his own prim animation script. The guy I was thinking of (Todd Borst) wrote the script I pointed at and also the commercial Puppeteer. There is at least one other scripting tool OPRIAN (possibly a variant of Todd's) which I found on a French site and used (after some modification?) for some reason that eludes me now.
hmm, that "appears" to be the one that came to my mind also...I played with that, or a similar one, a bit back but it frustrated me.
It had to do with a stick figure [or whatever else you can imagine] and, hmmmm, I wish I could remember who did full instructions with scripting, but it escapes me...but you recorded it's movements and then set them...and it would move around as you recorded and say text in local, and I guess it could do much more.
Very nice guy, and extremely good with scripting stuff, and sharing all sorts of things around the Meta. He is a friend of Nara http://www.narasnook.com/ and they have done several projects together.
So someone might get with him, as a start, and see how he feels about helping out-))

That runs surprisingly well inworld. If you want something closer to the original Scratch4SL (and arguably simpler than the Flash version), try http://www.greenbushlabs.com/LabsBlog/?p=797 which still seems to run OK on Win8.
Wow! You guys are the best! I even got some notes inworld responding to this question. I have assembled a list of possibilities for my young friend. I think I will task her mother with trying it with her first. Then, if they are stumped, I will step in.
Thanks so much, everyone!

I would go to the lsl wiki and have her read the section on the sensor and collision functions. They are pretty easy to understand so basically the lion might have a script that runs a sensor for his owner and when he finds his owner would do something like meow and run after the owner. Then if his owner touches him he purrs and maybe sits or something. If she is smart looking at examples will help her. Contact me if you do not understand and I will try my best to help.
