THE NOTES ON THE FEB 3rd GATHERING HAVE BEEN ADDED TO THIS THREAD
The second gathering of Myst/Uru-inspired storytellers and writers takes place on Kitely grid this Sunday, 3 February 2013, at 16:00 UTC in the world of Curiosity.
4pm UK Time
11am Eastern US Time
8am Pacific US Time
Sponsored by the Devokan Storytellers group, the purpose of the gathering is to give RP storytellers and writers in the Myst/Uru genre a place to share ideas, news, information, gossip, tea, biscuits, thoughts on issues of interest or concern and possibly even to inspire collaboration.
We gather on the first Sunday of each month at this same time and place. We may vary the schedule on occasion to accommodate others.
We hope these gatherings - yes, we avoid use of the word 'meeting' - will contribute to a sense of community among Myst/Uru-inspired storytellers. However, we do extend the invitation to RP writers of other genres as well.
Kitely users please note, attendance at the un-meeting is free, you will not be charged minutes. For this we thank our gracious host, Paislee Myrtle.
Hope to see you there.

Re: Myst/Uru Storytellers Gathering Sunday February 3
Note: The members-only version of these notes appears in the Devokan Storytellers subforum of The Devokan Trust forums. This edited version was prepared for public information purposes.
Gathering of 6 January 2013
An informal gathering of Myst/Uru-inspired storytellers and writers was held on Sunday, January 6th. The gathering, the first of its kind, took place on Kitely grid in the beautiful and friendly Curiosity region. The plan is to continue to gather on the first Sunday of each month. As the get togethers take place on Kitely and all of the founding members have been involved over the years with the Devokan ages and stories, an inworld group called Devokan Storytellers has been formed. (There is another group for interested parties who are not storytellers or writers, Friends of Devokan.)
The session took place in an outdoor venue with participants seated on barrels around a campfire under a night sky. In attendance at Sunday's first gathering were: Paislee Myrtle, Danko Whitfield, Fil Holmer, Dot Macchi, Ghaelen DLareh, Ruby ODegee, Mat Mahogany
Topics discussed:
"Notes" Posting Established - It was agreed that since this is a gathering rather than a meeting, a list of topics discussed would be posted after each gathering rather than formal minutes of a meeting.
Storytellers Update - Most of the first gathering was devoted to each member of the group giving an update on their current story or story plans. Also discussed was "branching off" from one writer's story to another's.
Inworld Office - An inworld office for the group was graciously offered by our host, Paislee Myrtle. She has provided a building " emblazoned with the S for storytellers" which includes display cases, bookshelves, and places to sit. There was a discussion about using the office as an inworld message center for the group and information center for visitors. The Curiosity region has been set to the Devokan Storytellers group. All in attendance were sent group invites.
Online Work Space - It was agreed The Devokan Forums would be the best location. A private subforum will be created for the Devokan Storytellers group. The subforum is private - for group members only - because we are discussing storylines and ideas with our fellow storytellers which we are not ready to make public, as these stories have yet to be written! The financial cost of The Devokan Trust forums was discussed and there was agreement that donations would be appropriate to support it.
While general agreement was that members will use The Devokan Trust forums as our main workspace, there were also comments about using the Kitely Forums for notices and announcements as all of the current group members have regions on Kitely.
Thanks to all who attended the very first Devokan Storytellers gathering.

Lovely, I hope to attend. Thanks for posting the converted times, btw, I am slowly getting used to dealing with UTC time but often wonder if I have converted it correctly, lol.

On "most" PC's.It is possible to add an additional Time Zone to a dropdown list on the bottom right hand taskbar clock.
Simply right click the taskbar clock, Choose <Adjust Date and Time>
In the tab additional clocks, Check <Show this clock>, and select whatever is the desired Time Zone.
Click <Apply> then <Okay> and now the PC Clock has a Hoverable Drop-Down with your added additional Time Zone(s).
Personnally I use 3 Clocks, My time, Her Time, and PST or Kitely / TIme.

Oooooo, very cool, thank you so much!! I am at work and our old XP workhorses here don't seem to have that tab or function but I will definitely make use of it on my machines at home.

Notes from 3 February Storytellers Gathering
In attendance: Paislee Myrtle , Ruby ODegee, Danko Whitfield, Adagio Greenwood, Dot Macchi
Topics discussed:
In addition to posting a full version of the Notes (minutes) of our Gatherings, Danko has also started posting a public version of the Notes in places where non-members might see them. The purpose of this is to increase group membership and let others interested in our activities know what we are up to. The public version does not include any detail of unpublished storylines or plans. Danko mentioned the Kitely Forums and one of his own blogs as places that the public version of the Notes are being published. The consensus of those in attendance was that this was a good policy and that it should continue. Adagio said the posting of the Notes from the previous Gathering was helpful to her in preparing to attend this session.
Danko has started a thread on The Devokan Trust forums in the Devokan Storytellers subforum for all members to post their blog, storythread and website links. This is to have all stories easily accessible in one place for other members to use as reference and possibly for story collaboration. Ruby said: " I find it convenient to read the stories there so I can keep up."
Ruby raised the issue of the various approaches to storytelling (e.g. roleplay, writing, gamebuilding, etc.) to introduce the idea of reaching out to others who tell stories by differing means and to possibly come up with a phrase that might cover all techniques of storytelling. The words "storybuilding" and "storyweaving" were discussed. Ruby: "I think of all of us as closer to storytellers, builders or weavers" as opposed to simply roleplayers. Danko said he uses the phrase "RP writing" to describe what he does. Dot used the phrase "storybuilder" to describe what Paislee, a builder, does. This discussion was lengthy and led to several well-received ideas. It was decided all members should give it some thought and we will return to it at our next gathering. Dot suggested an OAR could be developed for new Kitely users who are interested in story to use as their Home region. This idea was well-received with Ruby stating she has such a file already which could be improved with help by builders like Paislee. In the meantime, Ruby said she would begin the outreach to world builders in Kitely. She noted the Kitely platform is perfect for such interaction between storywriters and storybuilders.
Dot gave a list of which Devokan ages are online at present and on which grid.
On Kitely...
Skysong...includes Tao Lia, Rivages and Yugen. that is as a layered build.
Time Vault includes Starfyre, Illusion and Future Past (the far future verson of Deepwater
Evergreen includes Selenitica, Kamar, Tao and Satori
Eoliah
Retreat
Primordium is the very early incarnation of Deepwater.
On OSgrid...
Waysmeet and Deepwater are on OSgrid at the moment.
Nocturne is in abeyance, but that is more a fun build. Touchstone will be part of the Waysmeet, Deepwater build -- they are done, just not here in Kitely at the moent
There are also Mat's (Mat Mahogony) ages here on Kitely. Stuart, Kamali and some others.
