Re: Force avatars to wear clothing or edit the default avata
Please note that Kitely now has maturity ratings guidelines that require the covering up of certain parts of avatars which are rated General or Moderate. For details see: https://kitely.atlassian.net/wiki/displ ... Guidelines

This is great! Now would I have to change the default avatars in my world in order to take advantage of this? Or is this just simply dealing with avatars in the marketplace? Thanks for the information.

I know I'll get flak for this, but how about just setting the default view to general and be done with it
It already says other products are hidden due to maturity level, and its not hard to change.
Just a thought, heh. Relax it won't hurt.
In answer to the negative comments yeah I know I know, just an idea.

Re: Force avatars to wear clothing or edit the default avata
I wish it were that easy. In education we have to be extremely careful of where we tell our students to go (especially on the web). With that said, I can't really swing signing my school's students up to a service that they can remove their own clothing. I realize they may go home and see much worse. However we have a good amount of parents that I know would not be understanding.
Not giving up though. I am thinking we may try to incorporate the kid friendly avatars I have seen and then set our world and those users to a "general" maturity rating. We will follow it up with some type of letter home.
I realize they may still try to leave the world or build their own inappropriate objects. I can't really worry about where they may go. As we all know, the web is filled with adult content.

Hi Sully,
The strategy I usually recommend educators take is:
1) Create accounts for your students using email addresses you control.
2) Outfit the avatars with skins that have underwear as part of the skin texture so that even if the avatar disrobes it will remain dressed in underwear. You can get such skins from Kitely Market.
3) Set the date of birth of all the student accounts to the current date so they will be locked into a General Maturity Rating. This will prevent them from entering Moderate and Adult rated worlds. It will also prevent them from viewing Moderate and Adult rated items in Kitely Market.
4) Provide your students with the grid login password for their account, and (optionally) with the password for accessing their Kitely account control panel as well.

Where do you enter the birthdate when creating a new account? I created one for my daughter a couple of weeks ago and it never prompted us to enter her birthday.
Just curious.

We only prompt for a date of birth the first time when you try to change the account's maturity rating and we don't yet have the date of birth for that user. Once defined, you won't be able to change that value without contacting us.
Go to the Settings page to change the account's maturity rating: http://www.kitely.com/settings

I think one should definitely go through the above thread as it gives quite a reliable knowledge about the force avatars to wear the clothing or else edit the default avatar.
