New book on Virtual World Design

Post by Graham Mills » Fri Apr 11, 2014 11:14 am

Ann Cudworth has a new book out shortly entitled Virtual World Design: There's a 20% discount via the publisher using the promo code at

While I haven't seen the book, I think an integrated overview like this could be very useful for people starting out or wanting an additional perspective on their own practice.

You can download chapter materials from Ann's website: I think she may also be putting them on the Kitely Marketplace in due course. You can see the builds on her hypergrid-enabled grid at (there's a trail to follow based on the notecards by each build). Don't expect awe-inspiring architecture -- much of it is quite simple but that's appropriate to the target market.

She also made some related presentations at OSCONN13 that are linked from here: ... conference

Well done video she did also with a pleasant demeanor.

I was curiously intrigued by the terrain she has, being that is my own thang, which looked very similar to my latest free one, which is, of course, if so, or if it was the muse for hers, is absolutely fine by me, and rather nice also-))
