Starting today, the University of Bath Spa and the University of Naples Federico II are running a 6-week free online course on 21st Century Learning.
The course covers:

Digital Literacies
Contemporary Learning Technologies
Open Education
Social Media
Virtual Worlds and Augmented Reality

Lesson 5 on Virtual Worlds certainly sounds interesting. If anyone attends I hope they'll let us know what it was like.

I'm doing it at the moment. There are a couple of SL educators there as well (it's quite a small class, possibly because it also ran pre-Christmas). It's fairly lightweight as MOOCs go -- short videos (mostly existing YouTube), no assessment and four short activities per week. That gives me some hope that I'll last until the virtual worlds component -- if I do, I'll report back. It's a joint UK/Italian effort so quite a lot of comments in Italian -- Google Translate may be working overtime ;) .
