Post by Graham Mills »

I gave a presentation on "Immersive learning spaces in OpenSim" at our university Learning & Teaching Day this week. It was to a small group and very informal so I abandoned the slides after the first section/fire safety demo and just fielded questions. Some of the other stuff is a bit cluttered but may be of interest so I've left it in.

Interesting, thank you! Have you seen some of the work of Joff Chafer at Coventry University, and Stephen Schrum at University of Pittsburg? Both of them involved in virtual theater, and I've worked on projects with both of them. Joff's stuff in particular - mixing real people with virtual people in the same spaces. My own interest, the immersive experience in virtual theater.

I don't know Joff personally but I know of his work and I have also been to a couple of Avatar Repertory Company performances in SL. I used to use the Theatron3 project as a case study in talks as well.

That would be Alice and Oedipus -- bit of a contrast there :D

haaa yes indeed. I produced Oedipus in part as the Alice antidote. And because I had Joff to play the guy. Note to self: get that set exported out of SL, somehow. We could do Antigone.
