Hi nikita,

When you upload content to a grid it is added to that grid's asset system. When you add items to your inventory it is added to that grid's inventory system.

When you want to export content from Kitely you can rezz it in your world and export that world to an OAR file which you can then upload into other OpenSim grids.

For additional info see:
http://www.kitely.com/virtual-world-new ... plemented/
http://www.kitely.com/virtual-world-new ... rmissions/

In a few weeks we'll add the ability to export your marketplace listings into IAR (Inventory Archive) which you'll be able to use to upload content into an avatar's inventory in another grid.

For details see:
http://www.kitely.com/virtual-world-new ... ion-front/

A few weeks after that we'll add the ability for avatars to hypergrid travel which will then enable you to give exportable items to avatars in other grids.

Hi Ilan.
I tried importing those 2 XML files into SOAS and it caused it to crash also, i assume they must be corrupt somehow.
I was successful with some XML files before and i noticed when it was exporting i saw a little grey notification at the lower left of my screen showing progress.
I do remember not seeing that progress notification with these 2 files, so maybe if i don't see that notification its an indication its not exporting properly.
I had exported a chair and display and a bag i use to bag my display items in, so i do know it does work.
Thanks for the info re, the invent asset transfer. even though i have been on SL for years this is all a learning experience for me, SL is actually a very restrictive grid.
It.s very nice to see you "hands on" with your residents,

Thank you Nikita. :-)

The two files you sent me aren't in an XML format as you can easily see by opening them in notepad. It's a good question why the viewer didn't save them properly but, after viewing those files, it's obvious that what is causing it to fail to load them is that it's expecting an XML file format and is given something without the proper formating.

Hi nikita,

Firestorm just came out with a new OpenSim-compatible version that has built-in content export/import functionality which people are reporting works great. Please see: http://www.kitely.com/forums/viewtopic. ... 5855#p5840

Thanks Ilan.
I was using Imprudence on my SOAS but found it very buggy, i tried firestorm and found it much better.
I'll download this updated firestorm, i had looked for the import/export on firestorm and didn't see it and i had intended to ask about that but you answered it

Please note that the latest Firestorm version has a bug that prevents it from working with Kitely Plugin. We reported this bug to Firestorm's developers so hopefully they'll fix it in the next version.

For details see: http://jira.phoenixviewer.com/browse/FIRE-12049

In the meantime, please use the manual login option when using that Firestorm version. See: http://www.kitely.com/startviewers

Re: Using Stored Inventory

Post by nikita Jefferson »

I have been using SOAS with no problem, usually i click the ,Not sure what is called ( MOES)? but its the one you click on to start the SOAS servers then i click on open sim icon to start it.
Today i went to click on the link for the SOAS servers and it said shortcut has been changed or removed, when i click on the opensim icon it says "The item opensim.exe that this shortcut refers to has been moved or changed so the shortcut will no longer work.
So for some reason they both disappeared,it was fine yesterday and no one has access to this computer but me.
The annoying part is if i can"t access it have have worked many hours and days for nothing, i was getting everything ready to do the OAR thing into Kitely.
I had about 40 avatars done, each one i had to upload the skins and clothes.
I was in the process of doing my skins i was putting all the skins and shapes in each display and there were at least 300 individual skins i had to do.
I was about half way done those and upon completion i was going to upload to Kitely.
If there is no way to get back into my SOAS stick it was all for nothing.
Does anyone have any suggestion how to remedy this

nikita,

I use my 4 region mega soas daily...

Assuming you installed it in the default location:

Open internet explorer [also assuming you use windoze...not really an appropriate change on it's name anymore, but I like using it sometimes...lol]

Go to the folder for your soas

look for mowes.exe in the root folder....and, if you do as I do, click and drag it down to your taskbar [I don't use desktop icons so you can drag it there if you do] and let it pin as a shortcut

from the start text file included:

"launch \diva-r23797\bin\OpenSim.exe (32-bit operating systems) OR \diva-r23797\bin\OpenSim.32BitLaunch.exe (64-bit operating systems)

[which diva version is different depending upon your installation, but there is only one diva folder]

drag as with the mowes.exe to the taskbar or desktop and pin the shortcut

click the mowes then opensim shortcuts once mowes is running

You have not lost anything as it is on your computer [unless you deleted the soas folder, of course...but even then, you can undelete unless you emptied your trash folder]
