Importing .TGZ Files

Recently I came across the Zadaroo website, which has several stored "free" worlds. They are stored as .TGZ compressed files. I am reluctant to try to load one of these to a Kitely world but the author claims that he got his assistance from Ilan Tochner. :)

Are these allowed in Kitely? And will it let me import them? Inquiring minds....

You should be able to load those files directly. The TGZ format (tar/gzip) is the format that OpenSim uses to export and import region contents.

Yep, I imported at tgz file when I first got my region off of that site. Should work.

OK, just went to the site, downloaded the tgz file for the Autumn Castle. I went to "My Worlds", Clicked Manage Worlds, then was taken to the manage world pop up. I clicked The File Tab. Under Replace World, I clicked "Select File" where it says upload oar. I selected the tgz file from my downloads folder and pushed replace world. It prompts that your present world will be erased, uploads the file when you agree and takes a couple minutes to replace the world.

It informed me when it was done, and I logged in to a very temporary new look for my world.

Easy peasy! Note, I am not trying to oversimplify it for you, this post was made with future people in mind that may run into the same question.

I hope that helps.

When it comes to virtual I am always the noob. Something always changes. Thank you Robert that was a great tutorial for all of the future generations (and us baby boomers). :)
