The outdated SL 13 channel RAW format is hardly a benefit in itself. Opensim doesn't even use it itself, it uses the common and far superior r32 format, so the height maps have to be converted by the server before they are applied. And the server software supports uploads of a vast number of height map file formats too. I wonder how hard it would be to add support for this to the viewer.
