Building resource - Extended licenses from SL creators

It has been discussed on the Roleplay forum that it would be nice to open up a resource dedicated to listing the creators of SL who either do not mind users using their content in ther worlds, or who offer extended licenses to do such. As this relates to textures and sculptmaps mostly, I figured this was a good place to put it. If you have creators you want to share with the rest of us, please feel free to do it here! :D Please keep it to premium content only or free/premium quality mesh websites.

I would STRONGLY recommend you DO NOT just use the content because the creator is listed here, unless the marketplace add or website specifically stipulates that you are granted extended license with your purchase. Best practice is to contact a creator, explain what you are doing and more often than not, they will be happy to come to an agreement with you. RECORD YOUR AGREEMENT in some way shape or form. If you get it via SL marketplace purchase, LEAVE A REVIEW and mention that you will use it on another grid with the agreement of the owner, and try to deal with larger creators with a good reputation.

Textures
http://www.texturesrus.net - Huge resource of textures for all needs. Purchasing via the website grants you license to use the textures in all virtual worlds and to even use them in your commercial projects.
http://www.studio-skye.com/ - Another great place for textures. A bit pricey, but the quality cant be beat. Same deal as above with regard to the license.

https://marketplace.secondlife.com/stores/39?id=39 - Vryl Valkyrie offers extended licenses. Contact her for more info.

Sculptmaps
Horatio Clawtooth - https://marketplace.secondlife.com/stor ... 8?id=20368 - Small selection but large value sets of medieval sculptmaps. PM to ask permission first!
Morphe Inc - https://marketplace.secondlife.com/stores/20855 - Very large selection of medieval and Tudor style sculptmaps. You may have to pay an extra charge for extended license. PM to ask permission first!
Jub Jubs Stuff -https://marketplace.secondlife.com/stores/15290 - sculptmap GOLDMINE! States in the marketplace advert "- You are allowed to use the Sculpt Maps and Textures in your own builds/creations and put those builds/creations up for sale in Second Life and similar Grids based on Second Life, or on the Xstreet/Marketplace and other similar Second Life grid type web stores."

04/02/13
T-spot Design - https://marketplace.secondlife.com/stores/46024 - some nice plant and tree sculpties and other various things. Very reasonable prices too! I can tell you that Teresa the owner does not mind you exporting to Kitely, so long as you uphold the terms of purchase the same as in SL, so go right ahead!

05/02/13
PIRA Technologies - https://marketplace.secondlife.com/stores/42281 - Lots of useful furnishing, landscaping and general household maps here. Owner was very friendly, but please ask her permission before making purchases!

08/02/13
Mystic Cave Designs - https://marketplace.secondlife.com/stores/123553 - fantasy and themed sculptmaps at a reasonable price. Respect perms as normal, but you are free to upload them to Kitely.
Deep Blue Sea Designs -https://marketplace.secondlife.com/stores/42700 - I was informed by Adagio Greenwood that these sculptmaps are usable so long as you do not resell the packs or give away as is. So, standard terms apply. Thank you Adagio!

Mesh
*Not strictly SL creators, but useful none the less*
http://www.sharecg.com/ - Allsorts of great stuff here. License info is displayed next to the image on the items profile page. Many unrestricted license objects
http://www.snappytrees.com - got this working now thanks to Graham mills. You can find info here http://forums.kitely.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&p=723#p723

I will update this post as I find more. make sure you mention Kitely if you talk to any of them. We want SL creators to know they could be doing good business with us here! 8-) Hopefully I will slowly be able to update the links to KITELY MARKETPLACE STORES!

I also have an inworld sculptmap creation tool if you need any help with that, PM me!

On the subject of sculptmaps. I found this store:https://marketplace.secondlife.com/stores/10499

Its mostly sculpts for clothing and avi parts. In the terms it states "Items bought in Second Life may not be imported or used in any other virtual world. Please join the M&M Sculptie Grid Exchange group to gain permission for transferring sculptmaps to other Virtual Worlds."

I will not investigate further, as the store has nothing to interest me right now, but maybe something for someone else to follow up?

https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Li ... 199?page=1 - Jade Leaf Studios

Click to see some AWESOME full perm statues, an example of how I say "thanks" to the creators who really dont care so long as you uphold the terms of purchase AND a little guerilla Kitely marketing. Pow! Not bad for 400L$ :D

I was considering keeping these secret because they are very unique and selection is varied but not sooooo big, but Ayuki was so nice that I would love to see her get some extra business, so I wont be greedy this time. Plus you have to re-build them yourself, which will take some skills. Just stay away from the Lion. HES MINE!

I sent a notecard asking if it was ok to use the sculptmaps, and if I could tell others on Kitely about the store. Both not a problem, just respect perms as normal. no giving away and sell only as part of a larger creation. Enjoy!

Thank you for the contribution Dot! Some of that will come in very handy, AND its mesh. great!

https://marketplace.secondlife.com/stores/22441 - Dare Designs - ooooooh this one is BIG. Over 133 sculptmap packs covering clothing, weapons, furnishings and more. I spoke to Dare Munro and she informed me it is fine to use them. Just dont resell the packs as-is. You are free to sell whatever you create with them though. A little pricey, but some very unique maps here.

These things are great but I could not get them to export and I checked all the perms really carefully and did everything I usually do to export from SL. Any ideas, anyone?

Try using angstrom [dunno if that works in sl tho since they are limiting tpvs more and more there], or, go to Vbinnia's Steam regions in osgrid and get some of it. If all else fails, PM Aley from the sl market or IM Vbinnia Radek from osgrid.

More work and time involved, but you could create a simulator in osgrid, populate it with opensource items, save the oar, and drop it in kitely...have fun-))
