What am I doing wrong with normal maps?

Shouldn't I just be able to apply normal maps to my textures as I can in SL? The built-in bump maps work fine but when I try to apply my own, it does not work. It says the texture is there but no bump map is visible. Trying to get it to work on a simple cube before I apply them to my Blender creations. I am finally trying to use bump maps and specular maps after ignoring them for too long!

What viewer are you using Johnny? Have you tried this with the latest Firestorm for OpenSim?

Thanks, Ilan. I stopped using Firestorm for awhile and that was the reason. The viewer I was using for the last couple of weeks (Singularity) didn't have an advanced lighting option, at least not one that I could find. Now everything is working fine.
