Aaron Griffiths has been posting some informative articles about how he creates worlds in Opensim. In a recent post, he outlines a method for recording visitors to a Google spreadsheet and gives the script and instructions.

Thank you Serene,

I think it is worth mentioning that Kitely already tracks world visits and logs them in people's Account History pages: https://www.kitely.com/history

Each Kitely account's History page also includes a link to download the history report.

I found this out myself awhile ago and think its a great feature that Kitely has.. really like this inclusion, makes it easy to track and keep a log

Thanks for mentioning this here Serene and thanks also Ilan for bringing up the History capability. In this particular case the data research is being carried out by someone who isn't the sim owner so creating an option that didn't require my input required consideration. I think also, as the research progresses, they will find it useful to know specifically which parcels (different areas of the ancient reconstruction) people focus on rather just knowing they have visited the sim.

The script, in particular the function that captures data and sends it to a Google spreadsheet, may also be usefully adapted for capturing how learners interact with exhibits, learning activities etc.

I was looking into this a while back for someone and there is a way to do it! It would involve a prim in world and a webserver of sorts to handle the data.

I could make a little example for it for you if you like :)

EDIT: Totally had a look into this, Google API's are super stupid to look at late at night when you are tired.

What would also be very good Kurtis would be if someone could make a prim inworld that read the data off Google calendar. The final product would be an event board that could be updated outworld on Google calendar. Ruud Lathrop used to sell one in SL. I am sure lots of folks would love this :-) Well I would lol :-)

Hey, Kurtis has made exactly that kind of calendar that pulls from a Google calendar and displays inworld. I believe Ilan is looking at putting it in the KWC so new arrivals can find current events. I have it running at the History Hub and at Clutterfly Redux. It's pretty cool.

Put that thing on the market, Kurtis Anatine! :D

Haha! Or I could just send you one!
