Just a Random Off Topic Question here; I am planning to spend the earth day this year with my family. I would like to let my children know that what are the steps that we have to take in order to save the planet and save our future generations as well. For this, I and my children are going to plant a tree in our garden. I need a suggestion if any of you have even a little bit of knowledge about gardening, let me know which plants should I grow this 22nd of April on the occasion of earth day https://earthday2017.today/

Nice initiative David, but what to plant depends pretty on where you live. Where I am for example, for planting trees it's already getting a bit on the late side.

Hi David, a wonderful gesture!

While I do not possess any gardening accolades I do a bit of tree gardening on my four acres in Southeastern Texas, in the Piney woods as the area is called.

It is important to know what hardiness zone you live in, at the least. In the U.S. see https://garden.org/nga/zipzone/

Feel free to PM me. My area is just starting to get into full growth mode. I have already had several late winter blooming trees.

=) wonderful to learn y children such imporatnt things david!
as zed says also, its too late in season atm to do this (grandparents, parents, all super gardeners) ;)

u can for exemple, also 'to start', plant in your home, in good pot & good soil etc, and see it grow, how to tc of the tree-plant etc,
and put him outdoors early next year:)
keep that spirit up! its sooo meaningful :)
