RLV inventory

Post by Ricardo Sorciere »

Hello Everyone I have a question!!
might work might not work :P has anyone use rlv for inventory attachments??
I have scripted something like a collar that when the sun goes down rlv forces
the inventory folder attach all items and so forth

when the sun comes up all the items from inventory will come off
and you wear what you had before

and yes two folders are needed for this one for sun down
and one for sun up

I can give to much info on this
all I need to know if rlv viewer side works in kitely
ty and my apologies for not reveling to much on this.

Hi Ricardo,

The best way to know is to test it in your own Kitely world then test it in other Kitely worlds.

Ricardo, you should be aware that not all viewers support RLV. If you use Firestorm you should have no problems but if you go to CoolVL. as far as I can find there is no RLV option. Also if you hop to another Grid you may find your collar doesn't work it depends on the OpenSim OS version. So if you plan on selling your product in Marketplace, it should come with a warning or made non exportable, or both.

Also Ricardo I was manager of the OpenCollar temple in IW for years and dealt with a lot of OpenCollar problems. I am not a scripter but am very familiar with the OC system and the problems people have with it, so if I can give you any assistance, please IM me.

Hello,

I am bringing up this topic again... are there any news on this? Anybody knows, if RLV works and how? Using OpenCollar scripts (also OsCollar) seem not to use RLV, even it's activated via my viewer. But I have to admit, that I didn't investigate much so far.

Regards,
Adira

RLV works in OpenSim yes.

Using OpenCollar code as is (from Second Life) has several problems which I addressed in OsCollar. In the Collar menu RLV support can be enabled (collar works without it too, but limited). I'm not involved anymore but the latest version may be found at https://opensimworld.com/hop/81143

There are a few gotcha's in OpenSim;

1) Incorrect foldername when a script passes a folder of items to the #RLV folder
This is a longstanding issue that happens with viewers using the RLVa variant (Firestorm, Singularity). Viewers using Marine's RLV variant don't suffer this bug (Dayturn, Cool VL Viewer). See http://opensimulator.org/mantis/view.php?id=6311 for the unresolved bug report. This bug makes scripting reliable transformation traps impossible, or anything that (scripted) gives to the #RLV folder.

2) Flying/hopping while following on a leash
This is a result of the llMoveToTarget() code not working like in SL. I made a small patch for this but the core devs never merged it into master. The bug report and patch can be found here: http://opensimulator.org/mantis/view.php?id=8250
