I don't know if this is possible but is there a way to choose my own music playlist (from songs on my pc) and have it play on the land or do I need to go with the live streams publically available?

You can use Internet radio. See link below. They allow you to either listen to one of their 35,000 station or you can upload your own music and for a small fee become your own DJ. I keep about 3k songs on my station and depending on my mood I change what plays.

I actually started using this because it was cheaper than my Pandora account. Once setup you can use the stream almost anywhere. I use it at home, at work and on my phone using the Radio Tuner app.
