I see a lot of beautiful pirate ships in harbors around the Metaverse. Most of these are just props, they cannot sail. I set myself the goal of making it possible to bring these ships to life! My Sailing Ship Script and Living Sails (available now in my Chandlery) can do just that for your pirate ship!

To demonstrate how easy this can be, I found a copy of Arcadia Asylum's beautiful SS Ardo Frigate. In just a little more than an hour, I converted it into a working ship with realistic sailing behavior. You can see the ship sailing and the conversion process at http://youtu.be/tvFz2Ua3A4Q. Due to copyright restrictions I can never sell this boat, and don't even have a copy in Kitely you can go try out. I do have two other boats built around the same script that you can try out at my Chandlery ([url]hop://grid.kitely.com:8002/Panthalassa/214/358/22[/url]) in world Panthalassa. There you can buy the Sailing Ship Kit, sails and many other items for building boats. Also available in the Kitely Marketplace. The Ardo Frigate was made from 32 sculpted prims, probably intended for a physical script. My script does non-physical motion, so it will work with larger builds with many more prims. In the Ardo, I eventually removed the sails and the yardarms that it came with, then replaced them with Living Sails. I put a “keel” prim with the Sailing Ship Script in the bilge. The result is only 47 prims.

And no, the sailing script is not available for export yet. I do plan on doing that but it will probably be on a royalty system: The price will not be high, but you will have to agree to pay a royalty for every boat you sell. The script has code in it to send my database a record every time one sells. (Using llHTTPRequest, not email).

In the last few days I have become a big fan of Arcadia Asylum and her body of Open Source free builds. My last video (http://youtu.be/tvFz2Ua3A4Q) showed me converting her SS Ardo Frigate into a sailing vehicle. Although that ship is free, it isn't exportable from where I was at the time (due to hidden UUIDs in the sculpts) and I don't have a copy of that boat here. I searched and found that Danko Whitefield had downloaded an OAR full of Arcadia Asylum items to a world in Kitely. It is called Stormhaven – Port Aurora (http://www.kitely.com/virtual-world/Dan ... ort-Aurora). Danko says he is not going to leave it up much longer, so you should run over there right now and grab all the free open source goodies you can! It is plunder time for pirates! Yaar! Shops, bars, docks, a shipyard with a ship under construction. And ships. Pirate Ships! A harbor full of PIRATE SHIPS! All for the taking! YAARR!

So of course I had to try converting one of them to a sail-able ship with my script and sails! In my last video I said that it took me a little more than an hour to do this, but I could do better, and I did: This time it only took 30 minutes! I didn't video the process, just the maiden voyage which you can see here: (http://youtu.be/2uLZUB0dsJ8) To finalize the job I need to delete the original yardarms, but they are sculpts that include parts of the mast and some of the lines. I could replace those with prims, but I wanted to take it out sailing first! These items by Arcadia Asylum are all free and you must agree never to sell them, so I cannot sell this fun pirate ship! You could always buy my script and sails, get a free copy of this boat, and convert it to a working vehicle yourself!
