The short answer is no, you can't change KC into USD or anything else.

To quote from the Kitely Services webpage:
Kitely Credits

Kitely Credits (KC) are a virtual currency. You use KC to buy virtual goods and services.

Kitely Credits can't be converted back to real money, but they can be used to pay Kitely for its services. Merchants can earn real money by selling virtual goods for US Dollars in Kitely Market.
So, for example, you can use KC instead of USD to pay Kitely for a Premium account ($19.95 per month) or for a fixed-price Starter World ($14.95 per full month); this works out at 300 KC per dollar.

The Kitely Services page is a useful one to get an overview of what's on offer. It also gives advice about choosing between the various account and land options.

For Kitely Market, the detailed documentation is in the Kitely Market wiki pages.

It's not always easy to know where to find the information you need.

To help, here's a list of the current contents of Kitely documents, with links where possible:
Documentation: Contents of Kitely official documents.

Hi, I'm the friend Roxy mentioned :)

I've gotten a few items up into Kitely Market, and I'm curious about something. When I set up a product, I'm given the option of pricing for real currency through PayPal, but I'm also required to accept Kitely currency. Yet, I've seen a lot of items for sale on the market that ONLY have real-world currency prices. Why the difference? Have those merchants done something in particular that allows them to only accept real-world money?

Thanks,
Ariel Liveoak

Hi Ariel,

You aren't required to list items for KC. In the edit product page switch the Price currency to "USD" and deselect the "Allow KC" checkbox to indicate you will only accept payment in USD.
