Is there a possibility for the merchants to see each others products before the market is open to the public?
So one could avoid adding things that are allready offered either much cheaper or in a much better quality.

Sorry but no, the buyer interface isn't ready yet.
In any case, competition is good
People may be interesting in buying more than one version of a product so you shouldn't avoid listing things just because other people have listed similar items. In any case, if you find that your items are overpriced (or underpriced) then you can always adjust your pricing. Price changes take effect immediately but people who've already added the items to their shopping cart will get the price they saw when they did so (to help prevent bait and switch).
