Front Page Ads Rarely Show
Can we please have featured product ads on the front page that show separately from the banner ads? I paid for two ads on the front page, but they are having to compete directly with five Kitely banner ads, which means that most people clicking into the main Market page won't see my ads at all. $5 wasted. I was wondering why no one else was taking advantage of front page ad space.

Hi Luna,
There are a limited number of ad slots per page and ads are rotated with Kitely ads getting lower preference than Store ads and Product ads. You can track how many views, clicks and sales your ads get you in your ads analytics page: https://www.kitely.com/virtual-world-ne ... using-ads/

Yes, since 2019 I've tracked my ads carefully using the tools provided. A habit picked up managing sales people in RL. I maintain a spreadsheet just on Kitely Market sales and performance, and can even tell you the average exchange rate between Kitely and my Paypal.

Different product ads result in different click through rates and different conversion rates. Where you place the ad also affects how effective it will be. The more specific the category you advertise in the less people will see it but they will be a lot more likely to be currently interested in whatever it is you are advertising. See for example (visible just to you as the store owner):
https://www.kitely.com/market/store/139 ... porium/ads
You can see what channels lead to your different views and sales:
https://www.kitely.com/market/store/139 ... s/channels
And you can see how product pricing affected your total sales:
https://www.kitely.com/market/store/139 ... ics/prices
You'll note that your products that sold well were mostly lower priced and that ads that drove views to pages that listed such items resulted in higher total sales. You'll also note that the CPM (Cost Per Mille - the average cost of one thousand ad impressions) for advertising in our marketplace is competitive.
In other words, if your products are priced competitively then advertising in Kitely Market can result in a positive return on investment. If, however, your products are relatively expensive compared to other similar products that are listed in our marketplace then driving more traffic to your product listings might not result in a large enough increase in sales to cover your advertising costs.

Re: Front Page Ads Rarely Show
With all due respect, this was not a question about sales or analytics. I use all these tools consistently and my products sell well. As for pricing, the comment I receive most from customers, especially grid owners, is that I am priced too low, with some paying more than what I asked.
My only request was that our front page ads not have to compete with Kitely banner ads. That was it, nothing else. if that's not possible, then I'll switch to other methods to promote my products.

Re: Front Page Ads Rarely Show
I wrote about the cost effectiveness of advertising in Kitely Market, how you can measure it to see that it provides you with a good return on investment and how you can improve it. The number of ad slots we provide on each marketplace page and the type of ads we show there are calculated to retain that good ratio. Your ads aren't competing with the Kitely ads, they are getting about the same amount of exposure as they'd get if we showed other merchants' ads instead (it varies based on the ratio of Store ads, Product ads and Kitely ads in circulation in each given page on each given day).
We won't be increasing the amount of screen real estate we use to show ads in Kitely Market as that would hurt the user experience of using our marketplace and would reduce the CTR (click through rate) of the ads that are displayed. The current ratio of showing just a single line of ads at the top is good for both shoppers, advertisers, and the merchants who don't advertise.

Re: Front Page Ads Rarely Show
Hi Naancy,
Each Kitely Market category has a maximum number of ad slots, product ads take up one slot and banner ads take up 3 slots. Your banner ads get 3 times more exposure as well (Kitely's own banner ads don't get this benefit and they share just a few slots between them). Your ads compete with other ads that are published to the same category but due to the limit we set and how we allocate ad slots your ads exposure is calculated to fit the price you're paying. You may get more exposure than you're paying for if there are less active ads in circulation but you won't pay more than what we based our advertising prices on because of this slots limit and allocation algorithm.
