Resume or Pause

Post by Amiryu Hosoi »

Mmm... hello all,

I have been very busy reviewing, fixing and importing my items in Kitely. So far I have made a few sales but mostly by people I now know from the mentors group, wich is great. I am not sure how many "other" people out there even know about the existence of my shop in Kitely Market. I also can't tell how often my shop in Kitely Market has been visited. I am afraid though, this will not be a very high figure;-( I also would like to know how many people out there are aware of the Kitely Marketplace being "up and running". If that figure is to low I think Kitely should start some active campaigning to promote the Marketplace. Maybe some kind of early bird discount could work?

In total I have around 1200 items I would like to see listed. At the moment I am importing a range of "props" for my Edo Japanese buildings. When I am done with that range I think I will have close to 300 products up and running in my shop. Preparing and listing takes a lot of time and because I am always short on time I was thinking to pause my listing activities for a while and see how the Market evolves. Thus, should I resume or should I pause...

I would highly appreciate your opinions and thoughts on this matter.

Ami

My understanding of the Kitely market is that the methods it currently has to support export to the hypergrid would not be convenient for a large number of potential customers and that it is expected to have much more convenient methods in operation in the next 2 months.

Inconvient: Methods involving OAR files and IAR files.
Convenient: direct delivery via the customer's grid or delivery on Kitely grid when the grid is open to the Hypergrid.

I expect to post an article about the market on my blog at that time, but not before.

My blog is here:
http://virtualoutworlding.blogspot.com/

I would consider running an invited article about the Kitely market when it can offer convenient service to the hypergrid.

I think more people should do promoting. I often see Ilan posting in such like sluniverse but very little supportive comments.

I have tried to do my own small part but my energy level is very low nowadays.

Still, I do mention Kitely often, and the MP, when I talk to folx...but not much compared to what I used to do.

I am currently doing my 2nd article for Hyperica, here:

http://www.hyperica.com/article/five-gr ... -freebies/

and if at all possible, if I do more, I do intend on including Kitely regions when HG is enabled for avatars.

I just mentioned, this morning, to a friend who is in other grids, about the MP here, again...but I never push folx and she is currently busy in another grid.

Ilan had asked ppl if they might do testimonial blogs, and I did my own little one, here:

http://minethere.blogspot.com/2013/06/kitely-grid.html

which has had 583 hits since 6/6/13 which I don't know how good that is, but it is, something.

I think ppl should get as much as they can in the MP in preparation for that opening up more, and in the meantime, talk it up in more places...there is very stiff competition for content out in the Meta and only by getting your voices heard in many places will you push Kitely more into the spotlight.

I thought I might add some other places to promote in...the first I never joined but many have:

http://network.associationofvirtualworlds.com/

And this one I have been involved in for sometime now..it does have some login issues though but Marissa helps as best she can: [she also runs it on her own dime]

http://opensimcity.org/

Sluniverse, which many know of, has some value simply as it reaches a lot of ppl, it seems, tho it can be difficult dealing with some people's attitudes, most are cool:

http://www.sluniverse.com

and I just noticed this add from the admin:

Now through November 1, if you buy a 30 day high rotation ad or greater, you get double rotation on the ad and a free side and square ad - so three ads total, all with double rotation. Just mention this post to receive the special - it is not listed on the site.

The pricing and specs for the ads on SLU are at http://sluads.com

Which could also be used by content folx...

http://www.sluniverse.com/advertising/ not to terribly high pricing either.

You can easily get a google blogger site, free, and using templates get it up and running quickly.

Very diplomatic. Probably doesn't convey the full flavour though.

And another way to advertise, tho it is a bit steep [to me anyways].

Maria does get a lot of traffic tho.

I'm not a marketer, but a developer - for me, Kitely gives more freedom to make the kinds of things I like to see.

I just hope that Kitely does well, and as more people that are brought to Kitely, the more likely someone is to be intrigued with the things I can do and preferably throw a few million dollars or credits my way. I personally find it quite difficult to tap into the "mass market" products that seem to do very well and make loads of money. This generates a lot of flak for me - people outside virtual worlds tend to be highly critical of things that don't make large quantities money :(

From a purely commercial view, adding more stuff to Kitely Market increases your visibility, increases Kitely's visibility and image, which is good for everyone. It is still early days for everything though. I hope the marketing guys can push things a bit as well.
I prefer destinations - I'd sooner enjoy peoples work in world, where it was designed to be seen, but that's just me. I know a lot of people will disagree.

My personal thought is - do what you enjoy - then at least one person is happy at the end of the day :)

PS. Kitely is awesome.

We'll be discussing ad and landing page design for a Kitely Market campaign in tomorrow's Kitely Mentors Group meeting. We need to have a good message and some professional design. Once that's ready we'll resume advertising in SLU and begin advertising in hypergrid business.

We've already acquired a professional mic and video editing software to create some introduction videos we can place on the landing page.

Regarding your question Amiryu, the people currently visiting your store are almost all Kitely users. People from other grids currently don't have an easy way to export the content they could buy from you and are most likely not even aware that such an option will soon be available. Once we start the ad campaign and have the relevant landing page set up I expect you'll see a lot more sales. In the meantime, I recommend you continue listing your items. It helps the marketplace and it can help your future sales.
