Documentation: What needs doing?

In one of the Community Meetings towards the beginning of June, Kitely documentation was discussed.

At the moment documentation about Kitely services and how to use them seems scattered and fragmented across the website, wiki and forums.

Although the new home and services pages have helped to outline and better explain the main Kitely services, yet more needs to be brought into a single place to make it easy to find and to navigate.

The obvious place for this is the Kitely wiki, currently here: https://kitely.atlassian.net/wiki/displ ... umentation

It is supposed to be the go-to place to get information about using Kitely. Unfortunately it currently lacks information for most of the things that need to be covered, e.g. Differences between Market and in-world perms.

This is where we might help as a community. Some of us are writers, some educators, some editors, some proofreaders. We'll need to work outside the official wiki, perhaps by working on pages in Google Docs with Kitely copying them to the official wiki once they reach a certain level of maturity. This does mean that participants in the project will need to agree to their work being copied in this way.

At the meeting two starting points were suggested:
  • Creating a glossary of terms and definitions (e.g. for Kitely, OpenSim, virtual worlds in general)
  • Developing a wiki skeleton
Another possible starting point might be to develop a structured list of links to the material already written and published.

Any volunteers?

Per Dot's suggestion in another thread, I would be willing to adapt my previous document "Getting Started in Kitely" as needed for the Kitely documentation project.

I will also help as much as I can with other documentation.
