Grid addresses, Firestorm hops and other Textable Travel Links (TTLs)
I am writing a blog article about TTLs (like SLurls in SL). The objective is to smooth the learning curve for people coming from into OpenSim and hypergrid from SL. And also to make it easier for bloggers to publicize interesting places on the hypergrid in articles that can be read by people in the outworld.
This is what I am looking for:
Features we need in hypergrid--TTLs that work like SLurls in SL
Textable Travel Links (TTLs) in standard format.
TTLs that can be put in notecards, blogs, and web pages.
TTLs that work reliably on hypergrid, local grid, or local sim.
TTLs that take the user to any grid coordinates on a sim
TTLs that work like SLurls do in SL.
I found an undocumented feature in Firestorm that does some of these things:
http://virtualoutworlding.blogspot.com/ ... rgrid.html
This is the best I have found--works on the hypergrid and in Kitely. But it does not work on all instances of Firestorm [Firestorm 4.6.9 (42974) Dec 12 2014 ] and I don't know how to turn it on. Since it is undocumented, the documentation is of no help. I will ask Jessica if necessary, but if necessary but some people here may know, so I am asking for here first.
More generally, what else should I tell people about:
Firestorm hops. I find they work in Kitely, but not to another grid, at least with my Firestorm settings. Has anyone make them work to get to another grid? Has anyone found that they work in another grid if you come in from Kitely?
I see some grid addresses starting with
Those addresses do not conform to the Hypergrid specs:
Where do the come from and what should I tell people about it? The addresses in that form may work in Firestorm, but I am not sure how the must be used.
I find that often a hypergrid address fails on the first try and works on the second try a minute later. I am guessing that this is a timeout problem. Any other ideas?
