Volunteer Greeters

So apparently there was a history with greeters at the Kitely Welcome Center which I am blissfully ignorant of. Here is my proposal for volunteer greeters:

1. I am going to hang out at the Kitely Welcome Center occasionally with the title "Volunteer Greeter" over my head.

2. You can do that too. :-)

End of proposal.

Ilan said at the meeting today that there is a steady stream of new people to Kitely throughout the day every day. They are all dropped at the KWC. If some folks were to hang out and answer the occasional question, that would be a nice thing to do.

Thank you Serene,

There is an average of 1-2 new users entering the Kitely Welcome Center per hour pretty much around the clock.

I have my home point set to KWC and enter there if I am not headed to one of the points on my favorites list. If I have IMs to read/answer, I do that at KWC. If I see people that I don't know, I check age and offer help if they are only a few days old. If they are wondering what to do, I try to think of a place or group to suggest to them. If they want a sandbox, I send them to the Hobo sandbox on Cookie II. Most people I talk to are experienced in SL.

So far I have mostly been asked about appearance. "Where can I get help with my avatar?" "Where can I get clothes?" Where can I get an AO.

I would agree Selby that people who know to ask for an AO are most likely from SL. There were also a few people who were told to get an account on Kitley by their professor for a "retail class."

There was one guy who asked me "are there mesh bodies here?" I wasn't sure how to answer. I mean all our bodies are mesh, right? I am guessing he meant those fancy perfect mesh bodies for sale on the SL marketplace. What is the correct answer to his question?

There are mesh avatars sold in Kitely Market in the Complete Avatars category.

Questions today:

1. Where can I find some freebie clothes?

2. What can I do here?

Thank you Serene.

My answers would be:

1. There are some free clothes in the Kitely Welcome Center and in various Linda Kellie malls hosted in Kitely (find them in the Explore Worlds page or in the Worlds Showcase area in the Kitely Welcome Center).

2. The Kitely homepage provides a good coverage of what you can do in Kitely (a more personal answer would be preferable but that page does provide a quick overview).

Here is info I keep on a notecard to give to people asking about Kitely. There is also some embedded content in the notecard, but I can't put that here. Serene, I am sending you a copy of the notecard inworld. If anyone wants a copy, IM me inworld.
