Unable to login
I've just created this account, but I'm unable to login using the viewer - I get the message "could not authenticate your avatar".
I've copied and pasted the user name and password from the "viewer login details" floater, and also tried the user name in lower case and with a dot between. I changed my viewer password and reset my website password (just in case), but that didn't fix it.
The viewer is Firestorm 4.5.1 (38838) OpenSim, O/S is Win7, and I'm able to log into Kitely fine with another account on that viewer.
Any ideas?

Re: Unable to login
Hi John,
The user name you should use is "John Hopkin". For the purpose of testing, I suggest you change your grid password to something simple you can type in without copy/pasting it from another place.
Have you set Log into Grid (in the viewer) to Kitely?

Re: Unable to login
Thanks Ilan. Changing the password to a shorter one did the trick.
The last of the ones I was trying was 23 characters long, so I tried a short one of 7 characters, which worked. Then I tried another longer one, about 20 characters, which was again rejected at login.
Now I have one (shorter than that, but more than 7) which works OK. I wondered if there might be some kind of truncation going on in the Firestorm viewer - when typing into the password field I notice the asterisks stop appearing after about 16 characters. But surely that would have been fixed long ago.

Re: Unable to login
Thank you for the additional info. It may very well be that some viewers limit password entry length and thereby place a limitation that doesn't exist on the server side.

Re: Unable to login
I've had that same issue with Firestorm (OpenSim version) on another grid when using a long password. Changing to a short password worked immediately.

Re: Unable to login
I've added a comment to a similar bug on the Firestorm JIRA that was fixed back in 2011.

Re: Unable to login
By request from the FS time, the issue now has its own JIRA: http://jira.phoenixviewer.com/browse/FIRE-12905. Please vote!

Re: Unable to login
Hi, I'm having the same issue as John, but changing my password to a shorter 8 character password has not helped. I've tried to connect with the firestorm and singularity viewers but I get the same could not authenticate your avatar error message with both of them. My partner is able to log in her avatar just fine with this machine using either viewer.

Re: Unable to login
Hi Stacy,
Please login with your account on our website then press the Show viewer login details link at the bottom of the Settings page and change your viewer password to something that contains just 8 digits (not letters).
Next press the Enter World button in this world page: http://www.kitely.com/virtual-world/Ila ... ome-Center
Now open the OpenSim-compatible version of Firestorm, make sure it is configured to login to the Kitely grid, enter your username ("Stacy McCleaf") and the 8-digit password then press the login button.
For details see: https://kitely.atlassian.net/wiki/displ ... ual+Worlds
If this works then repeat the process and change your password to something more robust (up to 16 digits, letters and special characters).
