A model for a Destinations Panel/Board

Isis Ophelia made a useful Landmark exchange board designed to let people display pictures of their venues and give landmarks.

To get your full perm copy of the board, click the sign next to the board. Note that it is a coalesced object, so be away from parcel and sim borders when you rez it.

The use model is this:
The board is in a fixed location, presumably where it will get traffic
The board collects landmarks
Venue owner (VO) comes there, "buys" a panel in place, for 0 KC
VO puts a landmark and some pictures in the panel
The panel has scripts: LM giver and slideshow cycler
Visitor comes to the board, clicks on a panel with interesting pictures, gets LM

This is a clever design for collecting landmarks. I do want to present landmarks in the Cookie II Welcome Area. I like the part about one prim panels for displays and givers. But I need a different use model.

Here are the things I want in a use model for destination boards

Flexible panel positioning
Panels can be grouped in categories such as:
Freebies, shops, art, instruction, rentals, literary, etc.
Options in panel shape (to accommodate wide screen pix)
More info about the destination
Can deliver Hypergrid addresses
Floating text for persistent ID
Can go in a rezzer (for distribution and scalability)
These requirements seem to call for:

Landowner owns panels, can group them, link them place them.
Landowner manages panel arrangement.
Panels are best grouped in rows with space above for floating text.
Panel gives notecard with LM and info.
Standard starter panel offered free.
Suggested use model

Starter panel, 1 prim, full perm, offered free in public places.
I have a trial version in a giver panel on Cookie II near the world center.

Landowners invite destination panels for display.
I suggest creating a forum thread for landowners to announce invitations.
Invitations might include specifics on preferred venue types.
Venue operators make panels with notecards and pictures
Venue operators send panels to landowners who offer to display
Landowners place panels to suit their clientele and layout

heh, haven't seen the one in question, but I've had plans for a board with features(and more importantly an app for my in-world computers) on the back burner for a while now.. Have a look at the ones in the welcome centre, then think about features more.. Not sure how to make it worthy for free though
